this is an @sskicking mod! I followed Joes lead on mine - for the other mod I did on my tails this one was a must! It looks especially good with the lines on the 03-04 reverse lights... I really need to post pics.

Highly recommended and pretty easy (and cheap) to do. Thanks for the great idea jmonsale!

yeah i haven't looked all that closely at mine to try and figure out what you had done(i'm assuming now you did in fact paint it, but it occured to me you could have had a body guy(at substantial cost)alter the actual cut outs and found some other taillight housing... the paint looks sweet, anyways, and a lot more cost effective, although for my next question, if you painted over your oem turn sigs, where did you relocate them to?

the LEDS blink... you might be interested in this thread:

I edited the first post to give the most recent info (I think).

It's quite involved, but unfortunately so was the mod... I thought it was an easy attempt - months ago I started out with a question in the lighting forum and no one responded??? I got more feedback in the sedan area to make this happen than the dedicated area for such a mod (go figure)... long live sedans!

Here's my setup:

05/06 JDM tails (turn signal lights up amber)
03/04 reverse lights with red slates removed

For those that haven’t seen the LED blink mod – here is an “in progress vid”… this is prior to the paint to completely omit OEM turn signal…

I don’t think there is a sedan on the planet that has done this yet…

jmonsale’s mod was/is a perfect accoutrement for this look! None of the crappy vids and pics really do it justice – I’m trying to show you what it is all about… sorry for the poopy quality.

^ Dunno if you tried it already, but maybe you could remove the bulb from the OEM turn signal so painting over that portion of the tailight is not needed?

I went through many idea to omit the OEM bulb... several load resistors and it turns out cover it in foil works perfect... you cant just remove the bulb because the BCM will think its burned out and turn signal will hyper-flash...

Anyway, the whole reason I did the LED blink mod was so I can paint over the OEM turn signal. I wanted the look of the tails I have now and the only way to do that was to get the LEDs to blink so I had turn signals.

hot!

Dave, I REALLY like your reverse lights. If you don't mind me ganking the idea, how did you get the red bars out of the reverse lights?

OC--you're post count is at 6,666 at the time of me typing this...that's enough to make me hope you're wearing a cross, and I'm not even religious lol.

i really love those overlays oc. i read that thread that you posted, and it seems there was a group buy for them a while back. do you know where i can get the stuff now, since i missed the group buy? i'd love to do that, esp cause i'm going to be spraying my rear bumper in a month or so anyways.

the tails are painted - its not overlays... PM bluebatmobile for overlays, he has quality pieces (I had his on my car for 2-3 yrs)...
