Lol it is a lot better... never imagined those masking tape would generate such thoughts.....

I'm not quite sure about the mounting hole being shifted..... they are about the same place as on the original mounting bracket. Actually the side marks gets tighter fit when I tried it, and I had to get behind of the bumper to push it out, instead of just pull it out the way it normally did.

Yeah the fitment is decent, even the guy did the body work for me said the same thing - he's done some major mods with lots of aftermarket kits and this to him was a cake walk. I don't have the pics with the grill on yet but I tried it and it fits. As soon as I have pics I'll post it here.

The side skirts installation is straight forward, exactly the reversal of removing the OEM side skirts; the only difference is that instead of using the original snap-in clips, I have to use some black screws. The look turned out pretty clean too. I'll post pics soon.

awesome review. so knowing what you know now and what you went through, would you recommend the purchase of the kit (taking into account time+materials). what was your total cost if you don't mind me asking?

How much were your savings compared to buying the prepainted Nismo kit?

LOoks good, question has anyone ever put the rear lip on a 05/06 bumper? Or should i buy a used 03-04 bumper and cut/mold it into the 05 then add the lip....of course i know i would have to fix the muffler position.

BTW sorry for the hijack

Good question. I'd recommend this kit to those who know how to prep an aftermarket kit properly, can get it painted cheap, or want to cut/mod the Nismo bumper. Otherwise the real Nismo kit would be the easier route. My total cost w/o installation was about $1640, which is more than I expected, mainly because the black air ducts and kick board trim required extra masking work/time/paint; it'd cost less if I had them painted in the same color.

I would have gotten OEM if it was only $200 more. The Poly would have held up better to the rock chips. But hey whatcha gonna do. Whats done is done. It looks good.. Now all you need is the front plate cover.

I agree. Actually from what I was told, this kit is in something called flex fiberglass, which is a mixture of poly and fiberglass, and the paint I used is PPG with flex agent, so it should hold up pretty well too.

Getting an aftermarket kit could end up in a worse situation for me. I feel lucky that it actually turned out pretty good, due to the better quality. Anyway the experience I gained from the whole job is really helpful.
