tapping noise front wheel?

tapping noise front wheel?

i have a tapping noise coming from the driver side front wheel, it sounds like a nut would be loose and some part would have a little bit of play, everytime i drive thru a bumpy surface, sounds like a tapping noise, its pretty loud, almost banging like noise ONLY when i go over a bumpy roads sometimes it taps very fast abou twice per second or so, anybody got the same and know what it might be? i'm not talking about the compression rod creak, i already fixed that with silicone lube

Have you checked the tire really good to make sure that there are not any nails, screws or small rocks in it?

no its not a nail its a pretty loud almost banging noise

I might have a similar problem, but the sound comes when I turn the steering wheel and there is weight transfer. It also happens when I exit my driveway into the roadway and go over uneven surfaces. It sounds like something that is loose and sliding a small amount and stopping when it hits something else. It sounds like it is two solid pieces hitting each other, like metal on metal without clanking, just a knocking sound.

well my problem only exists when i go over a bumpy surface , might be the stabilizer bar link, i bought one off a member here and i'm waiting for it to get to me i'll see if it fixes the problem, i thought the nut under the hood that holds the shock in place might've been loose but its not.

Compression Rod maybe? I heard those go like butter in our cars.

compression rod (balljoint) maybe but i don't think it would be that loose car has 83k miles but then again

i had a problem with the front driver side area where it made a loud rotating noise it turned out to be the rotor was warped and needed reserfacing .it drove me nuts for months .... check your brakes ?

if it was a warped rotor, you usually get the vibration when braking. i recently had a similar issue. i thought i had a warped rotor, took it to a place to get it looked at and on the lift i saw the nut that holds the sway bar to the end link came completely off, the endlink was out and banging a little, but i was getting mostly vibration. could be something like that.

yea id say its something with either the sway bar end links or the bushings/brackets. get a pry bar and see if theres any play or looseness in the links and the swaybar itself.

Had my sway bar end links repaired last week, under warranty. There's a TSB out there, I believe.

Sort of a suspension clunking/creaking type of a thing over bumps/speed bumps and spirited snappy left turns (even at slow speeds) were my symptoms. Reliably repeatable. Took the dealership 40 mins to repair.

I have the same tapping noise from the driver side front wheel area. No noise if I am driving on a smooth road or idling. Thought the noise may be from loose bolts on the undercarriage cover...tightended the bolts, but still have the tapping noise. Guess I will check the sway bar end links.
