As a general rule of thumb you should never really go below 1/4 tank just to make sure you don't mess up your engine or any components of the fuel system.

In the G, the fuel light comes on at just under 1/4 tank. I wouldn't wait any longer than that to fill up unless you absolutely had to. Just not worth it

I can buy that explanation... thanks. BTW... I always delay filling up a day or two after the fuel light comes on, usually my fillup is anywhere from 17-19 gallons. So I guess we'll see how much longer my fuel pump will last after running hot and poorly lubricated over the last 94,000 miles. (knock on wood)

The most I ever put in was 18.7 and I thought that was a lot. I usually get around 23 MPG and get 350-400 miles per tank.
