XM vs Sirius

Anybody have any comments on which service is better? Quality, programming, cost, commercials, talk programming, music programming, ease of use, etc...

And my wife has XM and loves it. I would suggest checking the programming and see which one has more stations you would listen to.

Re: XM vs Sirius

I got Sirius in my G35 sedan. I liek the fact that it has no commercials on music channels and love the news channels. But the sound quality (which is probably the case with the XM also) is not as good as even a good FM reception or a CD. Teh high tomes are noticably missing; the sound is somewhat muffled. I am very technically inclined and have a percfect explanation for it: they use a high rate digital compression to get the streams reliably to the receivers, thus resulting in low bit rtes. Listen to straming radio stations on the iternet - that's EXACTLY how these satellite radios sound!.

But the content is definitely better that normal radio.

Enjoy

Re: XM vs Sirius

I have XMS in my Tahoe, with a Bose system. I don't claim to be a music expert, but I have had many cars with very high quality factory and aftermarket systems. I think it sounds fantastic. The comments made by the guy above may be accurate technically, but I seriously doubt that very many listeners will be dissapointed in the sound quality.

Q. for gurgenpb and BoostTed -

Do you have an Infiniti satellite radio, or did you get an aftermarket unit? I was under the impression that the Infiniti units are not yet available.

Re: XM vs Sirius

I have XM in my big truck. I don't like all the repetition on the comedy, old time and sonic theater. I do like the weather. My wife loves the decades music (40's and 50's) she gets in her Explorer Sport. I'm thinking about Sirius for my coup.

The factory radio (clairion) should work well with the clairion receiver.

I'm really waiting for the new Sirius antenna (looks like the 3"x1") XM unit to be released. Should work well on the trunk with aluminum tape inside on the trunk lid.
