Brake Dust Shields

Hey guys. Have any of you installed brake dust shields on your wheels before? I'm considering getting a set of them due to excessive brake dust but at the same time don't want to ruin the style of the car. Does anyone have any pictures with them installed?

If dust is a major objection to you, I would strongly recommend changing the pads to ones that don't dust as bad. This usually involves a tradeoff in performance, but it's not nearly as bad as the tradeoff you get by using dust shields - which can cause extreme overheating problems. Don't do it

I used a really good cleaner on my wheels then waxed them and it helped. It doesn't help with the dusting problem but it does make cleaning them much easier b.c it doesn't tend to bake on. I clean my wheels a couple times a week though

switch over to a different set of pads - hawk has some good options that won't dust the crp out of ur wheels

If you have OEM wheels, another suggestion is to apply a wax to them. It will help keep them clean and also alot easier to clean them.

A big no from me on the dust shield.

My ex-mother in-law put those on her G sedan. It made the wheels look like hub caps. I vote NO!

Plus 1 on different pads. I just switched to some Ceramic pads from the local Advanced Auto and no longer have a serious dust issue. Even after a spirited drive this weekend.

I say go for it, but paint them red or have them chrome dipped first. Then get spinning hub caps from your local parts store to finish the look.

I don't know if they have it for the G35, but I used EBC green stuff brake pads on my Nissan Altima with drilled/slotted rotors. I had less dust up front than I did with the oem pads in the rear. Performance was comparable, if not better than stock.
