03 headlight swap hid question

i recently swapped my head lights to the black housing ones. my question is can i swap the HIDs to the new head lights i put in? because i do like the hids better. or does a simple swap of the stock bulbs change any difference of the bland color the new headlights have.

thanks

did you buy the ebay headlights? Those are the only ones I know that come out of the box with "black housing".

If you did, no you cannot use HID bulbs in there. HID bulbs are not the same as stock bulbs, they require a ballast if that answers your question. the last part of your question is really hard to comprehend.

The ebay housings are halogen housings.

You can buy an aftermarket HID kit that fits the bulb size used by the halogen housings and fab it in, but even then the light will not project correctly since its an HID bulb in a halogen housing.

The ebay housing is not a good choice. The reflector is not shaped for HID output and even if you got an HID kit, all it would do is glare and blind on coming traffic which would make driving dangerous for everyone around you.

alright. sounds like a hassel. the only reason i changed headlights was to get that residue off the headlight.

This can be done with a $10 bottle of PlastX while still maintaing the OEM HID ballast and housing, which is well sealed and doesn't fog up like the ebay ones. I just did mine recently and they are clear as glass.

yeah should've just asked us and polished the haze off. It's from the UV rays, but its fixable/preventable.
