Reduce radiant heat from the exhaust which can heat up other components on the car or in the enginebay. Heat robs horsepower, so header wrap is used to reduce underhood temps in an attempt to avoid heat-soaking the intake system and warming up the inlet air.

wrapping hfc is pointless, don’t do it... wrapping headers can cause them to crack, Jet Hot Coating is a better option… you definitely need to do something to control the heat from headers – OEM has a heat shield, but going after market usually means losing the heat shield and the engine bay temps can get crazy hot (at least with Crawfords they do).

alright i see. well im getting the dc ceramic headers. do you know a place here who jet coats it? i wanted to get the header wrap on the hfc where there is no resonation, and the flex sections of the y pipe because there is a slight rattle and ive read that it might help with that.

wrapping is SOOOO stupid OCG35 is right, it does more bad than good. They insulate and trap heat inside leading to possible cracks and warping.

IMHO, the only real plus is it's great for protecting your ac lines from being rubbed on by your cai

ceramic is their thermal coating (similar to jet hot coating)... if you were to Jet Hot Coat them, they would strip the ceramic coating off first.

Either get the ceramic and don’t worry about additional coating or wrap... or get the ss and have them Jet Hot Coated.

Jet Hot Coating is who does Jet Hot Coating… you need to send your headers to them (google it for address and pricing)– or find a source that sells the headers and will have them coated for you (Crawford does this – but I’m not so sure mine were actually Jet Hot Coated, they might just be some ceramic type of material – they get too hot for me to be convinced they are Jet Hot, but its possible)..

my crawford headers caused my starter to fail after ~25k miles on the car - i've had the starter replaced and then wrapped the headers to try to contain the heat.
