Window tint Question

Window tint Question
Hi all I am new to the board and a new owner of an 05 G35x Sedan.
( I love it)
Anyway I could use some suggestions.. I live in Chicago and effective 1/15/09 the window tint law is going from $25 to $250 per ticket.
With that being said I will only be tinting the legal option which is the three rear windows. I have always had all windows tinted on my past cars.
Basically I am looking for any pics or suggestions on the tint percentage, I have the twilight blue paint job so I am not sure how dark to go especially since the driver and passanger windows will not be tinted.
Thanks in advance!

Well, what is the % value on the rear windows allowed?
Keep in mind if you slap 35% tint on an OEM window, more than likely it will come back as 28-30% due to the factory tint. So if your law is 35% on the rear, you'll need to use 50% film to get 35% NET in most cases.
As to what looks best?? Well that's up to you. I don't really think SUPER dark looks all that hot if you need to keep the front two windows bare. Depending on how dark you are allowed in the rear, i'd say maybe 35% film on the back? If you have a dark interior it will look darker

thanks for the feedback!! much appreciated..
There is no percentage requirement for back windows, you can have them totally blacked out if you want..
My interior is the tan, so it is pretty light and will show through the window tint. I was thinking about going a shade or two above limo/black. I think that may be the 30%..
And I fully agree that black out tints don't look good with the fronts not tinted!

Well limo black is 5%, but you can't really see too well out of it. I have 35% film (~28% net) all around on my car and late at night even i have a tough time seeing sometimes out the back window of the car if there are no lights. SOmething to consider.
There are tons of different shades. 5% 15% 20% 25% 30% 35% 40% 45% 50% and a few in between. It all depends on what manufacturer of tint your local shop uses.
I've ridden and driven quite a few tinted cars. 20% is the lowest i would go and feel comfortable driving around. Any darker and it's just tough to see at night. I'm not a fan of rolling down windows to look and see if cars are coming if it's 5 degrees out and i'm with my girl.
I suggest google searching different tint values and taking a look at how they look on different cars with different interiors.

Yeah I think 35% is the way to go, although I am still a little concerned that any tint will look strange with no front tints..
But I love the look and added privacy, lol.. I just feel like ppl can't stare as easy..
F* it I am going for the 35% unless I get to the shop and they have another shade that sways my decision..

I'm actually the opposite. I wish mine was a little lighter so people could see me.
I actually find myself rolling my window down so i can see and make eye contact with people.
The tint helps out GREAT with the NAV during the day time. I can actually see the screen now on bright sunny days.

i had a black on black 4th gen maxima i ran 35% front 2 windows and 15% everything behind. I loved that setup in chicago, 2 tickets $25 in the past 3 years, with the G and the price going up... i've 2nd thought it. 15% is what i want in the rear but the non tint in front offsets it a lot to a point where i dont want it.

I have the twilight blue paint.
My old car had 15% all around and I received numerous tickets at least 10 in 4 years. (My car was also white and parked on the street 24/7). Two of the tickets were given to me on the same day!
Needless to say with the fine going up to $250 for front tints I am going to keep the back three windows either around 25-35%....
Chicago is the worst for tickets! I just woke this morning to a $50 ticket for no front plate.. It is a dealer car so it does not concern me, but still!!!!!!! My G is in getting new tires
