nasty yellow backlights which pollute my dashboard. Is it even possible to change them to something different. Makes the entire car look cheap- blue would look downright beautiful.

Suggestions?

Many classier and faster than the G (Bugatti, Aston Martin, Mercedes, Saleen S7, etc.) cars use a muted blue, soft red or sift white-- easier on eyes at night ,and less glaring as the orange. This was one of the criticisms by Consumer Reports and Edmunds. They can be changed out with a kit, but it takes some doing.

Others who've done it may chime in later. Good luck.

Also, interesting to hear someone refer to VW as "cheap a$$" since our cars are often called just that by many Lexus, BMW, Audi, Mercedes, Acura, Porsche, etc., owners. It's all relative.

Joe Camel smoked a few too many!

I agree... the VW lighting is wonderful and I HATE the orange/yellow lighting on my car. Some day I'll do something about it.

I love the VW lighting, but my Lexus IS250's dash is incredible compared to my G35. It has a mix of LED white and blue lights and looks classy.

My G's dash reminds me of my old '05 Maxima...and I hated the yellow lights.

Could be worse...Pontiac is all RED

I agree. Really, I cannot think of anything worse than the yellow/orange that I have now. I'll do some more searching around but if anyone has any links or advice on what they have done that would be much appreciated. For now, I will turn down the lights and enjoy the ride- seeing as how I've been driving a 1995 PLymouth Acclaim for the last 2 months while I searched for the right G35.

Blue LEDs is one of the newest LED technologies...

While orange isn't the nicest looking color, Nissan engineers chose this layout because it's been proven to be less tiring on the eyes on long drives at night while remaining clearly visible. Since orange lights are less obtrusive, drivers are also able to pay more attention to the road.

As for Consumer Reports claiming white or blue light having less glare than orange... shows what they know about lighting technologies

^ What he said.

Orange/Red also has the added effect of not affecting night-vision.

Your eyes will take much longer to adjust from blue to darkness when you glance at your gauges as opposed to orange or red.

I'm more of a fan of white-face gauges with black numbers that reverse at night so the numbers light up blue or green.

While the yellow isn't my favorite, it's grown on me to the point where I don't mind anymore.

I really liked the look of the tachometer going from white to blue to red

I think the new gauges look good with the white and red.

I didn't like the orange at first, but it grew on me since now I think any other color would look terrible!

I always keep the dimmer switch on the lowest setting before it clicks off. At night it's sick and makes all the lights look artificial.
