Just got off the phone with riverside infiniti, not sure who I talked to, but some one in parts. Anyways he told me he could only tell me a price but was not allowed to give out the part number... So I told him that was lame, he explained it was the managers rule. I told him not to waste his time and thanks anyways.... WTF I just want a price and a part number to make sure I am getting quoted on the correct part. ****ING LAME

Wow, that sucks. It's not like Riverside to be like that.

Thanks Derek!

^^It's our managers rule now, we go through a lot over here trying to find so many different part #'s for rare parts for these cars even if it is something common like the aero front bumper for the sedan.

Long story short we have access to many parts before any other dealers can get there hands on them becuase me and Tony knowing who we know are able to do so. So we put in extra time off the clock to obtain this information from our sources. Our parts manager doesn't think it's fair that me and Tony put in the labor on our own time to find part #'s for us to just give them away and then another dealer make the money off of something we have worked on for days sometimes weeks for our customers, especially since we get paid off of what we sale for the month. All dealers have almost the same resources that we do to find parts and part numbers, but they don't take advantage of them.

I did offer to still get you a price on the bumper, all I needed to know was what color but I was hung up on right away. Not my rule, I even stated, "it sucks and is kind of a dumb rule" but it doesn't say Rick's Infiniti outiside on the building.

Yes and no....

No, I don't blame them for wanting to see some return for their work.

Yes, I blame them for not being compeditive.

(If you have the best price, you don't need to worry about giving out the PN because they will always come back to you. )

Yes, and understand both sides of the argument, having been working for nissan for 36 years now,and as a pm for 30, but try and give your local dealer a break,he's in it for a profit also.

Thumbs up Dealerships

Unnerstand that! Having been fortunate to work for three in my entire career, it makes all the difference in the world who your owner is, and/or personnel, takes a special person to be a parts guy, not a real glamorous job.

Makes sense. If you are gonna do the work, why should someone else get the sale??
