TPS and other wheel question
I have been trying to upgrade to 18's for a while. I finally decided to do, but now i just realize that my spare will be a 17" so here are two questions i have.
1. Will i be able to swap the TPS from my wheels to the 18's?
2. Do i have to reprogram the TPS after swapping?
3. Is it ok to have a 17" Spare tire?
This may have been answered here before but i could not find anything on it. I looked on google but didnt find much either.
Thanks in advance.

1. Will i be able to swap the TPS from my wheels to the 18's? as long as the 18" wheels accomodate the TPMS, or else you'd have to get brackets and or/ band them to your wheels.
2. Do i have to reprogram the TPS after swapping? If you reuse the the ones currently on your OEM, then no you will not.
3. Is it ok to have a 17" Spare tire? Yes, it is totally okay as mustang mentioned that the diameter stays the same. The smaller rims have bigger sidewalls on the tires to offset the height difference.

Here is the real deal about the TPS. If you have a full spare only you do not HAVE to put back your TPS to your new wheels. The sensor does not know if you have one sensor or FIVE. Also if you have the light came on for low pressure make sure you check the FULL spare also (does not apply if you have a donut). I know for a fact because I have just (three weeks ago) replace my wheels (17") with the new 18s from a 2008 sport sedan with out TPS, and the light has not come up yet.

That's not how TPMS sensors work. The wheel needs to spin for it to get a reading. If you do have a full size spare, there is a TPMS sensor in it, but it is not registered to the system and since it's not spinning, it will not send a signal at all.
2008 sedans all have TPMS. Its federally required on all vehicles made after September '07. So if you bought the wheels and tires off the '08, there are TPMS sensors in there (unless they were removed)
As for why your TPMS light hasn't come on? I don't know, but it's not the one sensor in the full size spare that's doing it.
