if you run lean it's doing it's job... any mod that makes you run lean is typically going to result in gains once you adjust a/f...

Most engine mods worth having are going to require tune - if you run lean from a breather mod, that's a good thing (once the a/f is adjusted of course).

I thought I would find it on here but no luck so I'll ask now. I have an 04 Sedan 6spd, mods so far AEM CAI, 5/16 Plenum spacer, coupe Mid, Y-pipe, headers, Res. Test pipes. I have a chance to buy a UR Crank pulley ($60.) for those that have this is it a gain in HP or a worthless mod? If someone could give me their input ASAP I'm supposed to pick it up tomorrow.

Thanks

Agreed. "once you adjust a/f". My suggestion was with the original poster in mind, who I presume just wants a quick hp gain that doesn't require tuning. Most new owners just want a bolt on mod they can 'set and forget' without having to get in to tuning.

I think there's one camp that will swear by lightened flywheels and pulleys, and one that doesn't. I have both, and although I still haven't dynoed since installing them, my butt dyno swears I lost HP. Without a before and after I can't back that up though. Is there a thread on here that has before/after with these mods?

it has been the most debated mod on this car ever... if you search pulley in the engine/drivetrain section you will find boatloads of info... it's a 50/50 split as to who thinks its a good idea.

I don't use one (for whatever that's worth to you).

My turn. Introducing myself. New to this forum. New to the car since September '09. Got an '06 5AT non sport in Obsidian. Came with most every option that I can tell. Option group C, Nav, bluetooth, Aero package (I think), full power and black leather. No big mods yet. Upgraded to Hawk HPS pads since my stockers kept screaming at me, even though they were still fresh pads when I removed them. Also put on a 10-wire grounding kit to smooth out the shifts and the light bit of stereo noise I had. Both ills cured. Also did a K&N drop in filter. I'm too old to have loud exhaust, so no exhaust mods planned for my future. I do like the thought of the MD 5/16" spacer. I live in Vegas, so I doubt I need any "cold weather" parts for that kit. Also want to firm up the handling, not the ride. Car feels slow to respond in corners but feels perfect over the bumps. So I'm thinking GTSpec strut brace. Not sure what you call the brace underneath for the front or where to find them. Not sure what to do to the rear either. I'm interested in Z suspension conversion (springs/shocks) for the stance. I also want to go staggered on 19's or 20's (no bigger. I'm not a baller). Not sure what staggered fitment will work. I don't want to roll fenders or go "hellaflush". Just trying to make this car look clean. I'll link to pictures eventually, but for now just close your eyes and imagine a 4 door black G on stocker 17"s 7 spoke painted wheels and a spoiler and you have seen what I ride in. Any advice is welcome. Thanks!

Does anyone make a bolt in roll cage for sedan? Similar to Autopower, Cusco, etc... I'm looking for something that meets SCCA & NASA regulations, that wouldn't be a major PITA for semi-daily driving...

Quick question: Should I get a coupe mid/HR Y pipe or a spacer first? Or something else?

I got mine at the same time... But I would probably do the exhaust work first. HKS sport muffler FTW!

A 5/16" or 1/2" spacer would make a bigger hp diff if that's makes any diff.

If it were me, I'd would just have a list of mods I want and buy them as they become available on the used market. Way bigger bang for the buck value and any HR Y is going to be used anyway.

Yeah, I think I can get the HR Y pipe/mid for around $165 shipped.

IDK about buying the spacer used...because of all the bolts and such that could with it. Speaking of spacers...do you think I should get the copper or the basic? I don't want to have to deal with the CCV and was wondering if it's worth the extra time to install the TB Heater/isothermal gasket.

Would I actually notice the HP difference in regular driving? And I understand the spacer gives it a slightly more aggressive sound?

I noticed a dif when I put my crawford V5 plenum on. It dyno'd near where the 5/16 - 1/2 spacers did. IMHO, even the 3/8" spacer that's only $160 would do well (considering it's only 1/16" thicker than the 5/16'.

I'll look out for either 5/16 or 3/8 then. Haven't seen a 3/8 MD spacer though..

Anybody else?
