03-06 G35 sedan with AT 0-60 in 6.2 seconds?

I've found different numbers, some say 6.2 seconds, some say 5.6 seconds...

do you guys know the REAL number?

I'm going to quench this soon-to-be-flamed thread now. It depends on the driver and the car. Within each of those are way too many variables (driving skill, launch technique, tires, engine strenght/condition...the list goes on) to pin down an "exact" or "real" number. Best thing to do is to take YOUR car to the dragstrip and find out your 60' time and 1/4 mile time.

Well how "real" do you want it? The "real" number would be what "you" could do it in.

So for a "real" number, I think a visit to your local 1/4 track is in order? Because after all, the car doesn't drive itself.

well taking it to the track isnt going to give a 0-60 mph time..if thats what you really want to know. it will give you a 60' time, so dont get all excited when you see the 60 ft. time of 2.2 seconds on your timeslip...and think your running 0-60mph that fast lol . most of the Gtechs give a relatively accurate 0-60mph time.

but yeah, it comes down to launch, car, and driver. you could run a 6.0 and i could run a 6.2 and someone else with a 6speed that can DRIVE could run a 5.7.

What ever way he was going to determine is 0-60 on the street, he can do safer at the track IMHO.

WGAF about 0-60????????

and WGAF about stock perfromance????.... I mean really - are you going to buy a semi-luxury sedan based on stock 0-60 time?

If you care about 0-60, get another car... if you want the features offered by a G sedan, forget about 0-60.

If you want the best of both world, buy the car and modify it - in which case stock 0-60 means nothing.

geez why does **** like this keep coming up?

I looked at the 0-60 stats. I wanted a sporty rwd sedan that handled well. But I also wanted one that wasn't a slug.

If I was willing to throw the 0-60 time out the window, I would considered a TSX. heh

I care, in fact I just looked it up today to compare to a 330i and make sure my car is still faster than my wife's boss's. haha.

6.2 is about right without any extreme preparation (pre-throttle or 1/4 gas tank) with g.f. in the car.

codeflux, I know this has probably been asked, but could you clue me in to your side marker lights? I knew I saw those on someones car on here and instead of putting up a BS post I decided to wait till I saw the picture again. Anyway, where did you get them or did you custom paint them? Thanks in advance. Sorry guys, don't mean to steal the thread.

0-60 and 1/4 mi make for good bragging rights or potential performance benchmarks since a lot of non-car people tend to mention them w/ HP ratings anyways. Gotta stoop to their level if you want to have something to talk about. How else are you going to compare cars with others w/o going to the track anyways? Someone else already did take em to the track, and that's the car mags. There may be some discrepancies due to launch ability or driver ability, but for the most part it's a useful enough "potential performance" gauge. A 1 sec difference between cars would be pretty brutal when on the track... I haven't seen actual track performance too far off from the car mags in reality so I'll call it as being decent enough.

The mags typically got 14.6-14.7 1/4 mile time and 6.1-6.2 0-60s out of their 5AT 03/04 sedans. However, there's a handful of us that have gotten 14.2-14.4s out of our stock 5ATs. A 14.2-14.4 equates to ~5.7-5.9 0-60 times.
