The exhaust setup I have with the headers HFC and my y-pipe sounds nothing like the stock exhaust to me. It sounds pretty similar to the HKS/coupe midpipe setup but with the overall tone much more linear.

Relative to the stock Ypipe the XYZ sounds very different. Its a little hard to define exactly how it sounds different but it sounds a lot better.

Its brighter, clearer, deeper, louder and with less tendency for rasp or drone.

Sometimes I'll be doing fitment testing on my Z or G with the stock Y pipe because I need to know how a system fits or sounds on the stock Y pipe. But after a few days, the stock Y pipe always leaves me wanting to put the XYZ pipe on.

The XYZ just sounds better in every way.

LOL

I'll get some pics soon. I plan on getting a video up for you guys as well.

Just spent 2 days moving down to Pheonix...had a coolant hose pop a leak.

Tony, I'm running the copper TB gasket bypass...the back side hose sprung a leak. I'm pretty sure it was from the extra strain with the TB spacer. Just a heads up for you.

So you haven't test fitted it yet?

Does the XYZ pipe fit the X?? I think that is the only difference from the rwd isn't it?

Ionno, I didn't get the XYZ Pipe, not yet at least.

And no, I'm about to go get it installed in about 20 minutes.

That will actually probably be about right, I have work at ten, so that will be the time when I can do it. I'll get pics and vids up including sound clips (granted they'll be from a crappy Cannon SD1000, but it works)

Lol, gotta love having a sedan with the original stock exhaust and 65,000 miles IN THE SNOW. The nuts from the y-pipe to the resonator are pretty much the same piece of metal as the bracket/bolt. This will be fun.

First Impressions:

Man this exhaust is horrible!

Just kidding!
I'm uploading videos/pics as I type, but I wanted to get some first impressions up.

To start, I have a 2004 G35X with a ZTube/PopCharger and thats IT in terms of performance mods. No spacer (yet), no HFC/Test Pipes, nothin.
And I got the VQ system (YBack, no XYZ pipe), no resonators on the midpipe.

Firstly, I love the looks of the exhaust, just wish it was twin tips. The tip sticks out a bit far for me, and the exhaust looks a bit low, but all in all it looks great.

Sounds good, it goes from very different to almost stock from low to high end. There is a bit of drone in the 1.5-3k ranges, especially just light pressure on the pedal.

As for power, I noticed a good bit more power to the wheels with this installed. Granted it rained this morning, but I still noticed that when I got on it, I could accelerate much faster, although I haven't gotten to release the top end yet, just spent 10 minutes driving around.

All in all, this exhaust system is great. Only complaints are the drone in the low range, and how low it sits.

Pics: (MY CAR IS FILTHY, I know. It's raining, and it's Rochester NY (ask IvoryGT if you don't believe how much the weather sucks))

Finally figured out how to post videos without HTML so here they are(They're crappy, but I was a bit late to work this morning so I kinda had to hurry and I managed to get one going through a tunnel which sounds pretty sweet)

Sitting on the ground just after being installed

Low/mid range spurts

take off

Somewhat hard take off

Tunnel video

I'll get better videos up either tonight or soon

looks hot! i still wonder why there is no option for dual tips yet. There is a demand for these sedan exhausts and a few people already voiced their request for it.. after all the OEM stock exhaust has dual tips.

You wonder, but he has stated the Motordyne is currently developing a dual tip option for the sedan. Trust Tony in that they will come, I mean come on he has stated they are on their way. Do you want them done right (the Motordyne way) or would you like them rushed into production like most products you see out there and not be the best thing you can put on your car?

As for the exhaust, looks awesome, local shop needs to call me back with when they can fit me in so I can get mine installed!
