Backseat Removal
Backseat Removal
Anybody know the procedure for removing the backseat in my sedan? It's a Premium Package model, with the reclining seats.
I've searched the DIY & FAQ section, and also did a general search for all forums with just the word backseat, but no dice (interesting how many posts contain the word "backseat", and why).
Help??

Re: Backseat Removal
I disassembled mine a couple of weeks ago in an attempt to fix a horrible rattle. I don't have the reclining seats, but it goes something like this.
1) There are two little handles you pull under the front edge of the seat. Pull those toward the front of the car and then pull the cushion up.
2) Once that is off, each seatback is held on by two large bolts. You undo the bolts and lift the seatbacks up off their "hooks"
3) The armrest leather velcros to the pass-thru. Undo the velcro and pull out the humongous grey retainer clip if you want to remove the pass-thru portion of the seat.
4) The armrest holds on with two huge bolts. They are very, very tight. When you undo them, the armrest comes right off.
I'm going to go back in there to try and fix this damn rattle again. I'll take pictures and post a howto. It's really not hard, just a lot of work. Also, you will be shocked how shoddy the out-of-view parts of your seat are. The leather is stapled into foam, for example!!

Thank for the info - where else are you gonna "bump into" a guy who removed the seat in a G35 a couple of weeks ago? I love this site - thanks again.

have you successfully done this with the reclining seats? i am trying to do the same as I would like to make some sort of larger pass-through to fit my snowboard. just wondering if the reclining rear seats make it any harder (i.e. the flap of cloth that is attached to the back of the seat). any pics would be AWESOME
