Questions about buying a G

I just totaled my 00' Bmw 323ci the e46 now im looking into buying an 04' G35 sedan with 106k miles 6speed m/t

Just wondering what kind of problems should i expect. is it a smart buy for only $8,500

also what kind of mods are good to start out with

mileage is kinda high but price justifies that

if you can spend about 16k ish you can get a very low model G with warranty

but if you only have 8.k do a car fax and get a mechanic to look at it

Critical situation your in right now. If your trying to be paid off, then it may be a good buy if you can get the car checked out properly. Just remember, your going to have other maintenance as well down the road, if needed. Just take your time, and don't rush it.

true, but the maintenance should not be any different then that of a beamer.

I know that Infiniti will not offer a warranty to any car over 100k or 4yrs old, so whatever warranty they are offering is through them, thus buyer beware.

in any event, $8,500 for a 100k infiniti is a very fair price. Hopefully, the problems have been ironed out by the previous owner.

Coming from someone that drove a beamer before (2 in fact), you will not be disappointed with the G35.

^^ Agreed. Maintenance will be on any car regardless of year, logically speaking. However, depending on the condition of the car, highway/city driven, who drove it, records, etc.. you should be able to get a rough idea if the car is worth it. Nissan engine are reliable, compared to BMW with high cost maintenance.

Oh mods? Anything you like. Matter of fact, if you do go pickup the G for 8gs, it can be a perfect project car as well. If the shell of the car is in perfect condition, you can rebuild the motor for a more faster, safer, and reliable. It all depends on your goals and financial situation. Good luck.

04 6MT sedan for $8,500 is a great deal if it's in good shape and has a clean title.

Like others have mentioned, I would not worry about the mileage as long as it has a good history of maintenance and care.
