I was straight pipe from the test pipes here. I hit a raised manhole cover and it broke my exhaust at the ypipe. I couldn't avoid it due to heavy traffic on the right and a curb to my left
Black Obsidian is hard to keep clean
My 1st gen X on oem 17s and chopped springs (don't do it your back will hate you) but handles and stops better, no 4x4 wheel gap either. My clearance is about 2-3 inches to the bottom of the side skirt, to the bottom of the exhaust it's a little less. I have a off brand cai, 1/2 plenum spacer, test pipes, vhr racing ypipe w/ no heat shield, and a 2.5" muffler delete into a 2.75" single slant exhaust tip. I also have full led lighting interior, license plate, reverse light. 8000k HID Xenon headlights. Limo 5 percent tint on the rear and 50 tint on the front. blacked out side markers and front grill. Square 225/50r17 Hankook Ventus Noble1 S2 tires w/ 25mm + 3mm spacers (in these picture I was 25+3 front & 25mm rear). The car sounds deep especially around 2-4k. It gets louder and less deep at higher rpms but absolutely no rasp. Some small pops after letting off every now and then. My build was a budget build because I didn't want to spend on mods that were worth more than my car. Just wanted it to look, sound, turn and pull better while still looking like a sleeper. Currently running in full rwd mode.
Next mods in mind are equal length headers and a sc14 supercharger. I can keep the budget build going and make more power. I prefer a turbocharger but I don't have have the fab skills or tools to make my own custom turbo hot side

I'd like to see how well an SC14 fits in the already cramped engine bay on the G35, definitely interested though since you can pick those up for a reasonable price and rebuilding them is simple as well.
Now that it has been years and feels like many companies have stopped making suspensions for this model. What are best budget shocks I can get? specifically rear shocks. I'm looking at KYB, but would be nice if there is something better that I do not know of.
KYB Excel G is your budget minded (while still name brand) shock/strut (roughly $350 for all 4). A better twin tube option is something like the Tein endurapro PLUS line (roughly $550 for all 4). If you have ANY thoughts of putting the car on the track, or if you drive it pretty hard then I strongly suggest stepping up to a monotube like the Bilstein B6 non adjustable (about $800) or the adjustable Koni yellows (about $950).
The Tokico blues that used to be the budget OEM replacement have been long since discontinued so don't bother looking for them anymore.
Glad I still have some options! mostly I'm want to replace the old ones since they are getting a bit bouncy. While also wanting to get some improvements over handling. I saw the Bilstein B6 and they seem pretty nice, but for my budget, seems like the best I can afford is the Endurapro Plus unless I'm only upgrading the back shocks for now since they are more bouncy than the front.
Pretty much modified everything tastefully no ebay junk just driver comfort/performance mods mainly.
