Bose systems are engineered to only work well with each other. Each Bose application is custom designed for the environment it is installed in. Therefore a Bose system for a Maxima will sound like azz in a G35. The speakers are not compatible with aftermarket systems. They have a completely different ohm requirement, I just can't remember what it is. 2 ohms maybe. Bottom line if you're going to swap out your radio, be ready to swap out your speakers as well. Either the Bose speakers will not work at all, or they will sound like ****.

Bose is 4 ohms so you want to make sure you get a unit and harness that can meet that.

Im almost positive that the bose is 2ohms, 4ohms is the standard. I have an aftermarket head unit and stock speakers, and it sounds decent. The trick here is the harnesses. You use the rca connectors if you have a 4 volt or higher pre-amp output, or you use the standard harness if your pre-amps are lower than 4. This is the reason so many people complain about the sound quality afterward. They use the RCA harness with a stereo that has to low of pre-amp outputs.

Iv got an Alpine IVA-W205 headunit in my 05 sedan no bose. It sounds OK. I added a sub so that helps, but iv often thought about upgrading the speakers.

Any recommendations? I love music, and i love good, clear, deep sounding systems..

Yeah, look into CDT audio.. If you really want good sound, get component speakers and an amp to drive them.. and dont bother with rear speakers other than a sub..

If you're using the amp in the radio, it might sound great until the amp dies.. Or did you do something else? Also, did you use the metra kit with the hvac controls? If so, how is the fit/finish?

I have a pioneer double din in my sedan. Works fine with the factory Bose sound system after i messed with the levels a little. No matter what at some point changing speakers amps and sub would be the best but of money is an issue stock speakers work fine for a good amount of time. I have the metra harness and did the install all myself. For those that don't know the Bose subwoofer does work with an aftermarket head unit but the way that its wired with the metra harness it acts like another rear speaker. Which can be fixed if your head unit has a subwoofer pre out. I've installed aftermarket units with factory speakers and subs on a few cars. Any questions pm me
