2004 Sedan Hitch?

Does anyone know which hitch part number you need for a 2004 G35.

I know the hitches for are cars are made by Curt Manufacturing however there are a bunch of different ones on Ebay, According to there site there are two models numbers for the 03-04 sedans my guess is one is for the coupe but it does not state which one. Also on Ebay the 07 year hitch is much cheaper but based on the picture it looks exactly the same as the 03-04

Help.

Can I ask why or what you plan to tow with the G? My reason is I was thinking about this when I moved halfway across the country, why not just rent a truck for the job instead and leave the *** end of ur G looking clean and sexy like it should be....

Trevor, do some searching. There are several threads about the Curt hitch. You didn't say if you have a Coupe or Sedan, so I can't point you to the right ones. But here's a DIY that should help.
https://g35driver.com/forums/body-in...-05-coupe.html

But, this is only for light loads. The G's tow rating is only 1000 pounds, so you can forget about moving across country.

Sorry I have a sedan, and the hitch you posted up in your write up article is not the one I want. That hitch only connects behind well there is one that extends out much further.

Also I need it for my bike rack and dont ever plan to pull anything major.

The Curt Hitch you need is Model # 11482. Go to http://www.curtmfg.com and look up your car. The DIY was for Model # 11483, but since you didn't specify whether you had a Coupe or Sedan, I just thought I'd get you started in the right direction.

Every hitch on ebay for the Sedan is this Curt model, it's the only one made for a G35 Sedan. There are a few non-Curt hitches listed, but they are in fact re-badged Curt Model # 11482's. I know, I've looked into this already. If you want to show me a different one on ebay, go ahead.

Also, you can get roof racks for bikes, or even ones that clamp onto the trunk. Is there a reason you want a hitch rack so bad?

Thank you!!!!! no trailer hitch on the G PLEASE!!!!

Yakima Makes a nice set of roof racks, that you can add pretty much any type of rack or cargo system too. Such as bikes, or ski's, snowboard's, surfboards,Cargo bin, ect. I am actually saving for this exact setup for my G and bike... I have enough for the rack system just shy of the bike rack itself.... Obtw, fully locking for those who even think to try to steal the rack or the bike itself and not to bad looking, can be installed/removed pretty easy and from experience they take beatings and harsh weather with no problems.... Unless you are talking about towing ur motorcycle well then I wouldn't recommend this set up

I'd be extremely cautious on using the trailer hitch on the G or any vehicle that is not a pick-up truck. This is just a recipe for transmission disaster.

Take it from my experience: We hitched a lot of stuff on our old '01 Sienna minivan from Maine to Florida four years ago, and by the time we got down to the Sunshine State, the transmission was starting to get faulty due to the numerous hill climbs on the highway during the drive. Thankfully we quickly sold the minivan after we settled down so we don't have to live with that problem again.

A couple bikes won't hurt it that bad. What's that? 200 pounds? You put more weight in your car if you were to drive with 5 passengers. If it were anything heavier i'd recommend a trans cooler...of course anything heavier and i'd suggest a truck meant for towing.

A lot of hitches can be removed. Install it, use it, take it off. Not a big deal. No different than ruining a perfectly good audi with ski racks on the roof.

I have the Curt hitch on my sedan for carrying bikes. I previously had a full Yakima setup on my old car but beyond damaging the roof of the car, it kills gas mileage, and takes two people to safely get on and off the car. The trunk mount hitches also do a lot of damage and I'm not about to put bikes that cost over $4-5k on there.

Not a very good picture...

It took me about 2hrs to do the install b/c it requires you drill a hole through the bumper support and then fish a bolt from the end down. Wear wrap around safety goggles b/c I managed to get aluminum shavings in my eye despite having safety glasses on.

This happens if you ran the minivan with a trailer, with Overdrive engaged.. Thats why its usually disablable..<- i may have made that word up..

Your on the right track.

Just put one on my 06 X, took my wife 2 months (And the bike rack on there)to even notice it, doesn't cut into the looks at all. Just wait til you run your pedal across the roof or down your door one time and you will regret ever getting a roof rack (unless you plan on hauling skies of something besides bikes) Got my Curt Hitch new and installed for $275.00. If you want you can call the guys at Crystal Welding in rogers MN and they will get you the correct part #. I use mine all the time and it works great. It also sits the rack far enough from the car so you don't have to worry about it swinging a pedal into your bumper or handelbar into trunk lid (Trunk opens and clears with bikes on car). Been slacking on posting pics will try to post some soon. Don't go any bigger then stage 1 (1/4 inch hitch) not nessary.

yakima rack's taking two people to install/remove? Are ur arms made of wet noodles? I put a set on my lady friend's honda accord solo and I am by no means strong at all. No damage no problems... she herself puts her MT bike up and rack's it no problem she has yet to even get close to her paint or scratch the roof... she actually asked this question when purchasing the rack...
