Performance Differences 2004 G35X

Hi,

I have two 2004 G35X's. There seems to be a performance difference between them. Both are stock. One (Gray) has about 45,000 miles and appears to be the stronger of the two. The other (Caribbean) has around 67,000 miles. It feels lower in torque on the bottom end. Also, when accelerating, it feels like it has little power below 3000 RPM. Once hitting 3000, it almost feels like a turbo engaging with a sudden appearance of power. The car is still very fast but the low end torque is disconcerting. Does anyone have any ideas as to why this might be happening? Thanks.

Maybe its the 20K mileage difference? And one couldve been more beaten then the other.

There is always variance between cars, even in the same model year.

I would assume both have been maintained the same? i.e. service intervals

Hell, could just be a tank of bad gas in one car. But the butt-dyno is not reliable, so I wouldn't worry about it.

try resetting the ECU on the one with bad performance. Unplug Negative terminal and hit the brake 3 times. or you can leave it unplugged for like 12 hours.

Fixed the responsiveness and performance when I first got my car.

If it's an automatic, could be something with the torque converter.

Search up the sprintbooster.

I think they are going to make one for the X, but that will liven both of the cars up nicely!

Are the cars driven the same way regularly? Might have something to do with it.

yeah, one could have 87 octane or one could have an extremely dirty oem filter. Hydrazine has noted that a dirty paper filter will start hindering performance a bit.

Isn't there something that opens up at 3000RPM on these engines?? IMRC's?? (Intake Manifold RUnner Controls) and shortens the runner lenght to give a boost in HP?? I think i read something on this.

I notice that 3000RPM seems to be my cutoff line for power as well. Unde3000 from a stop it's so/so, but over 3000RPM is screams.
