"Whoosh" noise when at 2.3-2.5k RPM

Hey, in the past few weeks I've noticed this whoosh noise (as my girlfriend puts it) JUST in the 2.3-2.5k RPM range. I can really only notice it when I'm going slow, I don't know if that's because of the road noise at higher speed, or if it stops. It's actually quite loud, I rolled a window down yesterday and was surprised at how loud it was.

I'll shoot a video today of it, but do any of you have a clue as to what it could be? It's nothing like the sound from the popcharger, thats more of a whistling sound and it's more at 2.5-3k RPMs. The only other thing I can think of is the VQ exhaust system, but I didn't noticed it until a couple months after I installed it.

Does it only happen when you start your car? Or does it happen all the time?

I notice it more when the car is warming up, I think it's there all the time, just lighter after the car warms up. I'll let you know for sure later today though.

yeah, I don't think it's that. It's really like a rush of air coming out of somewhere in the mid to rear of the car. Sounds like a hole in the exhaust without the excessive noise and it's only at that certain RPM range.

have you check for leak in the exhaust to see if the clamps are tightened according to the spec?

You think so? Even just at those RPMs?

Spacer, most ppl who have a spacer seems to have this whoosh noise. There was a thread about this a while back.

If it was an exhaust leak it would tick. One way to check is put your hand on the tailpipes (when cold!) and seal it. If there was a leak you'd get a loud tick.

You don't have a mechanical engine fan do you? Was that only early 03's?

I don't think I have a mechanical engine fan, but it doesn't really sound like it's coming from the engine either

I'll go try putting my hand over the exhaust pipe

Put a piece of cardboard over the pipe to seal it, and I heard no tick, just a very light hissing sound where I didn't quite completely seal it.

It could be the Bushings

When I release my A/T into gear the car unwinds like those matchbox cars. The longer I keep it the car off the faster it starts e.g. it pulls my car into gear. It seems I go faster than 5 mph once into gear.. kinda crazy... then when it finally winds down I hear that sound as well... I'm thinking it has to do with the Bushings connecting to the compression rods seen here:

Here's also the TSB I found today regarding it:

http://x.infinitihelp.com/forum/loca...6&sort=d&pp=12

I'm going to take it into the shop the end of this week and will let you know what happens.
