please help. My car does not drive over 5mph

The gas pedal on my car is not working. I put it in drive and it goes up to 5 miles an hour and the same thing happens in reverse. This has never happened. In the dash it show SLIP. What could be wrong? It's an 05 sedan thank you

Anything (wheels, modifications, alarms, etc) done to the car? Were you messing around under the hood?

car is in limp mode.....get it checked out at the dealer (if still in warranty), roadside assistance should come and tow you.

here is a good definition it will explain what "Limp Mode" is

Your engine management and maybe even your transmission is controlled by the ECU. As you know, all computers crash, all software has bugs, and mechanical equipment fails. As such, many ECU units are fitted with a 'limp home mode'. When it detects that something semi-serious is wrong, it enters the limp mode, which means that the engine won't rev beyond a pre-programmed speed, you can't accelerate very fast, or you may indeed be speed-restricted to 40 mph or similar. The transmission may even stay in one or two gears. Bad? Well, no, not really: The alternative would be to either let you drive at regular speeds, with the danger of letting you trash your car (expensive repair, means happy repair people, but angry driver), or stopping you from going anywhere (expensive recovery and stranded on the side of the road means happy recovery company, but angry driver).
This happened to my dads Q45 once but it was just a software bug. he was just limited by rpm.

^^^Thats the simplest and shortest answer!
Or others calls it "fail safe mode"

This happened to me before with my previous vehicle (Lexus ES). Couldn't go more than 40 mph on the highway. Turned out that the solenoid in the transmission was faulty, which pretty much screwed up the whole gear shifting of the transmission in making the engine run properly.

Well the car is not mine, is my sisters. It turns out that it's still under warranty and the dealer sent a flat bed tow truck to the house and picked it up. Funny that the car had no power and couldn't go up. I'll post what the prob was for future reference.
