guys with OEM wood trim

Anyone tried to peal/remove the wood trim off ?

I was trying to figure out if the wood trim was like glued on or if it was a completely other type of trim. I'm not exactly a fan of the OEM wood trim and i'm exploring my options right now as to what i can do get rid of it.

You should be able to swap it with aluminum. I am sure someone would want to swap with you.

NO ONE wants to swap... you've been on here longer then i have and you cant honestly tell me you saw a thread where anyone would want to swap. Find one i i'll easily paypal you $5.

the people who got the wood trim just learn to deal with it. I've seen about 5-6 threads the whole time i've been here with people asking the cost to replace it and all of them died out and i assume no one ever bought it.

I'm only asking because i want to go DD radio, since the trim is JDM, and the only USDM has the wood trim. I will never find a woody JDM trim unless its custom. As of now it looks like i have to deal with the horrible idea of wood and alum mixed together.

How about an overlay?? Someone posted pics of overlays not too long ago and I thought it actually looked good.

I can understand not finding anyone to trade aluminum for wood. When i was looking for a G35 to buy, if the dealer walked me up to a car and I saw it had wood, i told him to just move on to the next car.

Lemme see if i have a pic of the dash kit

Get a heat gun and warm it up, then start to peel. There will be some adhesive left behind you will have to clean up. Its held on with double sided tape. Not sure what it would look like after you get it off.

You can go custom and have it wrapped in carbon fiber

Mustang, not feelin that at all :S

I think overlays look cheap, I think there is a kit on ebay in a few different patterns but I remember reading that it leaves like a 1/4mm exposed and is noticeable on inspection.

The guy who wrapped his in CF did it well, that looked pretty awesome.

the wrap was one of the options i've always considered. overall would cost be about $50-100 to do the wrap.

$35 for 1 yard and then 20$ for the 3m super spray.

Normally I would agree with you 100%, but for reason I like that.

I dunno. I guess i need to see it up close to see how the quality is. Luckily for me I have aluminum, so i'm all set

I have the wood too and can't really find the alumin trim on ebay or here. My only budget thought was to overlay it or something.

For me I feel nobody under 50 years old should own a car with wood in the interior
