What brand of gas do you use?

I know the topic of fuel grade has been beat down to the ground, but I would like to know if anyone knows a difference between the brand of gas they use compared to others? For example Cheveron vs. Costco brand at 91 octane..........

Gasoline varies by City and region to meet mandated smog requirements.

Most premiums in the SAME city/small region are basically the same EXCEPT for the Marketing additive that many add to differentiate A BRAND. Some brands stick with the legal minimum placed in all fungible gasoline and just add a DYE to color their BRAND. Some actually add more detergents than legally required.
The EPA maintains a list of what is legal to add to gasoline.
As far as pump octane you are at the mercy of what the refinery did that day and how it reacts with the residuals in the tank farm when the load arrives.

Only the tank farm operators have a good guess at what's what and even that is a mix.

It can always be tracked by via pipeline batch number and refinery batch number.........which should be on retail deliver records.

Costco buys directly from the various terminals/tank farms without an intermediary and the pentalty for marketing agreements and advertiseing load.

I usually use Phillips 66/Conoco, it's premium is usually 90-91 here, not sure why it varies at the same company, also I use Costco if the line isn't too long, it's 91 here. The last time I went by, the line was way too long, and they were only $0.02 cheaper than the 66 with no line.

We usually use either 91 octane that we pick up at a Wal-Mart gas station or 93 octane from BP.

I have been using Shell gasoline in the past. Now I am using Mobil 1. They seem to be both good gasolines.

In my area, the lowest cost gas is usually either Union 76 or Chevron so that is what I usually go with.

Don't confuse the station Marketing Brand Signs with the gasoline you buy.

Exxon 93 is the cheapest around here. Every once in a while Shell 93 is equally as cheap and it's a tad more convenient.

I usually fill up with Chevron or Costco. I can't tell or feel difference between the two.

I only use Chevron. I’ve been told by a mechanic in the family that the Techron additive they use is good for the injectors. I have no idea if it’s true, but Chevron’s closest to me anyway, so that’s what I use.

Re: What brand of gas do you use?

From what I heard, gas like Costco are from refineries that put the minimum amount of detergent required to meet federal standards. And there are companies that go over the minimum requirements like Cheveron, Shell, Mobil, etc....

Since no one has had thier G for more than 3 years, I guess we really don't know the long term effects if there is any.

Re: What brand of gas do you use?

Mostly 76, but sometimes Chevoron, Mobil, or Shell. I try to avoid using Arco and others. And I only put in octane 91 gas.
