Ok, the title is intentinally dumb to get some attention...

I'm a noob, just got a G35 sedan, it's my first car so I'm learning a lot as I go along. I've been looking for floor jack for my car for awhile. I've run into a few issues with multiple jacks I've tried:
1. The jack is very short resulting in the pump handle being underneath the car once I get to the lifting point. So basicly, I am unable to move the handle at all and raise the car.
2. The jack's saddle in it's lowered position is higher than the jack point underneath the car.

So, I guess what I need is some suggestions on getting a floor jack that will fit underneath my car and still allow me to use the handle for raising it. Also, have others run into the same issues? My car is all stock so it's not like it has been lowered and has a low bumper lip. I'm starting to think I might need to get one of those fancy low profile aluminum floor jacks.

You just answered your own question. But most common jacks will fit. The jacking points are directly behind the front tires and in front of the rear tires on the body pinch weld. You can see notches for where the OEM jack fits.

Hell my car is dropped 2 inches from stock and a regular jack still fits under there...if someone picks up on it a little.

No sorry, we're thinking of different jack points. The ones I got in mind is the one at the front around the front axle in the centre. And the other would be the rear differential.

 

Well in that case, yeah you'll need a low profile jack.

 

I have 2 jacks, one small and one large. I use the small jack on one side just to get the car up a little, then put the big jack under the front center jack location. The big jack won't fit under the lower shroud if I don't. It's a very minor inconvenience, but only possible if you have 2 jacks.

Another option for the OP is to build some simple ramps that get the car up 2-3 inches, enough to get his jack under the front center point. I used a 4 foot section of 1x12. I cut it in 3 pieces, roughly 11", 15", and 20", at a 45 degree angle, stacked, glued, and screwed. Smoothed off the 45 down to about 30 and sprayed the bottom with some PlastiDip so they won't slide on the floor. Gets me 2.25" of lift when I'm on them. You could add a 4th layer to get to 3".

 

You know what... as stupid as my post might have sounded, I'm glad I made it. That suggestion above is pretty much all I need. I think the extra 1-2 inches will be enough, and I have some wood pieces I can drive onto. It's funny how sometimes you totally don't think of the obvious and look for something more complicated.
