Ball joint or Compression Rod?

I noticed a faint squeaking noise come from the front passenger side of my car.. I'm not sure if its the ball joint or the compression rod.. anyone know an easy way to tell?

if you hear it mostly while you are turning, it is the compression rods.

I would def. lean toward compression rods. Everyone with an 03/04 or 05X will have to replace theirs at some point.

Thanks. I was thinking compression rod just because it hasn't happened yet.. but it seems as though it isn't limited to on turns.

Chances are ill put it on a lift tomorrow to check.

Do you still have a warranty? If so, take it to the dealer and have the compression rod bushings replaced. Just had mine done a few weeks ago and no more creaking. If they haven't gone bad yet, they will soon.

Ahh, I see. Well, not sure how you actually determine if they are bad, but if you replace them I would just buy new bushings and have a machine shop press them in.

Riverside Infiniti sells the G35X bushings for $23 each in their eBay store. You probably just need to call them to order the RWD version. I'm not sure if a standard machine shop would have a press or not. If not, I would just take the compression rods by the dealer with the new bushings in hand and have them switch them out for you. Can't imagine they'd charge too much.

Are the new ones supposed to be better so this won't happen again? I just have a feeling mine will go bad again just out of warranty.

Supposedly once you install the new ones you are good to go. it's a new bushing design i guess.

the new bushings shouldn't have the same problem.

Back before they revised the bushings, people had them replaced with the stock bushings a few times. New bushings are much better.

Is it just me or did the new bushings feel much crisper on turns as well?

I noticed that too when I got mine back. Not sure if it was just my imagination or not though.

I just got mine replaced last week(for free). I'm glad i got a 4yr bumper to bumper even though my nissan dealer where i bought the car is full of lazy idiots.

It does drive better, corners are a little tighter and i was getting a little steering wheel woble at high speeds but that is gone now with the new rods and bushings.
They told me that it didnt need an alignment after they did the work and i am still a little skeptical about that.
