Installed the Z-tube and mileage is shot to hell

I can't figure it out guys, I installed the Z-tube which is supposed to open the intake up to better breathing. I was expecting to get better gas mileage but I haven't. Do you think it has anything to do with the fact that I have been flooring it constantly to hear the engine roar?

You are joking, right?

It's hard to resist the urge to drive with a heavy foot just to hear the intake, isn't it?

Ah...that would be....YES! ;-) After you get used to the Z tube, you should try to get it into 4th and 5th gear (5th and 6th gear in your case with the 6MT) as much as possible to improve your mpg and not as much WOT. But, I know with the Z tube in, it's harder to actually do than say...hearing that nice 'mean' sound above 3,500 rpm from the Z tube is very addictive! ;-)

Ya I was joking. when I went to fill up today I noticed the trip odometer at 230. I was thinking to myself that I need to lay off the throttle.

I usually get at least 300 out a tank with a 18G fill up. John you must have some serious lead compostion in your foot. That means your averaging ~11MPG which is suburban and excursion territory

I was JK Shodog...much like you with the Ztube comment. I was however serious about the K&N Typhoon set up. I actually have the Stillen airbox on there now too and the whole thing sounds throatier.

I average 21 mpg but b/c these damn gas gauges are completely wrong I never get 400 miles to a tank.

Interesting, mine never changed. But now I have a Stillen Intake, seems mine might have gone down. I willl know after a few tanks.
