Stillen sway bars on sale!

I recieved an email from Stillen last Friday announcing their
price reduction of the front/rear sway bars by $190.
I jumped at the chance to get these, as I had been
considering a swaybar upgrade and wanted the Stillen
but could not afford them. They arrive tomorrow (I hope!)
Can't wait to tighten up my sedan! Any one have an
idea how tough a job swapping out the sways is?

Re: Stillen sway bars on sale!

Wowa!! The Stillen are 5 way adjustable. I bought the
Stillen for my wife's Maxima a few years ago and love it.
I know the Stillen bar is a quality bar, so I choose them
over the Hotchkis bars. Here are the actual prices:
Was $499 now $289.

I have the Stillen 5 way adjustables on mine, and I love them so far. I don't know how much I paid, it's still a blurrrr.

Re: Stillen sway bars on sale!

How hard were they to install? What settings did you use?

Re: Stillen sway bars on sale!

I don't know how familiar you are with the Stillen sway bars, but I am screwed in about half way, center, which means I'm at about 40% stiffness, give or take. It's really nice where it's at now, I can't imagine the difference when you adjust them to 70 for the track. Anyway, I had Stillen put them on for me, since at the time I was dropping the car and it was totally easy, 5 minute installation for them at that time. They just bolt right to the original points.

Re: Stillen sway bars on sale!

Just installed a set last Sunday. Set them to medium in the front and Hard in the back.

If you have the Stillen exhaust, you will have to drop it to get your old bar out and the new one in.

Also, the Stillen's require you to use your old rubber bushings. Hotch's come with urethane ones...so go buy a set in preparation for the install.

I think Ivory_G posted some pixes in the SoCal forum (turner Series #2) or over on our www.Teamtransport.org/forums

Cheers, ted

Re: Stillen sway bars on sale!

Just got the Hotchkis today. Went to the store in the rain and they seemed great. Uneven surfaces seem much better at times but no hard corners yet...

Went medium medium. Wondering if hard in the rear on the hotchkis means certain oversteer. Need some 4am coffee runs to figure it out.

Re: Stillen sway bars on sale!

Don't forget that Hotchkis are

Front 1 3/8" (35MM) Hollow (Bar Weight 13.5lbs)
+9%,+32%,+63%

Rear 15/16"(24mm) Hollow (bar weight 5.5lbs)
+54%,+92%,+146%

While Stillen's are:

Front 1 3/8-inch diameter & Rear 7/8-inch diameter with adjusts from 7% to 70% of OEM. (can't find the separate ratings anywhere.)

Re: Stillen sway bars on sale!

I'm to lazy and clumsy (and rampless) to crawl under the car -so I dropped her off at the best machanic I've ever heard of's shop and he did it on his lift for 1/2 hour and some chatting about his new 65 stingray convertible w/ 327 ci 350 hp motor.

My review for the hotckis with out really having had the chance to test the balance is DAM this thing just drives better. I'm talking rigidity and solid absorption by the frame of vibration that wasn't possible with stock setup. Roll is gone competely. Wondering what would happen if I tighten up the rear to full on as the front adjustment prob is much more sensitive. I like these bars a lot so far. Emeregency manuevers should be even better now and the planted feeling that was there already is enhanced on the highway. I would have never guessed until a year ago that chassis flex could be so detectable let alone correctable.

Will I be able to re-use the old bushings?

Re: Stillen sway bars on sale!

Were the prices quoted for both pieces or for each piece individually?

Sway bars are in my roadmap but I haven't even checked the prices out.
