Been driving for over 8 years and never been in accident, but I've heard enough to know what to do and stay calm. Well, when put to practice, I didn't fare so well. I forgot to copy down the person's driver license number!! DOH! I have a few hours before I can call my insurance company and it's killing me. Will I be able to file the claim without it? Or should I contact the person and try to get it first?

So this morning on my way to work I was hit from behind by some lady who tried a sudden lane change when I began slowing down for the traffic in front of me. All I heard was a crunch and saw her moving into the lane next to me. I started following her and it took her a while before she pulled over. She said she didn't even know she hit me. Damage isn't too bad, rear bumper will need to be repainted. Soo sad, I had my car since Feb 2006 and took immaculate care of it, I never thought it would happen to me, I was more concern with getting door dings than getting into an accident.

Did you get any info? Did you exchange insurance cards? Did the police come?where do you live?

 

I got all her info except driver's license # and DOB. I got her policy number, but no police report, I called 911 and was told to just exchange info. I'm in California, accident took place in los angeles. Thanks for the help.

 

as long as you have her name, insurance co, and policy your all good. you dont need th d.l number. hope this helps. you need to call her company and see if she has reported the accident, if she has your good if not you will have to go through your company.
