2004 G35 Sedan or 2005 Sedan ?

hi guys.. im new here.. i never owned a g35.. im planing to get one asap.

i live in houston so cars around arent that cheap or expensive. but since i never owned a car.. i thought asking people that know about these cars would be the best help.

so i have my eyes on these 2 cars.

one is a 2004 G35 Sedan with 71k going for $13.

i heard stories about the 2003-2004 models that they got problems with breaks, rotors going bad quick, pads and blah blah and they had a recall on thortel cables

the 2005 G35 Sedan has the same milage but this one cost $15.

the only thing i heard about this one that some of them go low on oil quick.
and that they look better than the 2003-2004 model

well i compared them and saw the diff. on them..

anyway.. so what do ya say... thursday im going to test drive both of them...

It will only 'go low on oil quick' if its a 6 speed manual transmission.

Get the 05.

Yeah i would go with an 05 also. Better brakes better interior. And yeah it will only burn oil if its the revup engine in the manual. BTW i thought all G's had drive by wire throttle so i doubt there would be throttle cable recalls but i have no idea for sure

'05 all the way. The oil consumption issue is kinda a hit-or-miss thing, and only affects the 6MTs anyway.

Or you can be like me and get an 04 and upgrade the brakes to 05 status and upgrade the door panels to 05 status. And be happy for the time being...

assuming both cars are in excellent mechanical condition with good tires, brakes, etc then $2k is a good upgrade price for a 1 model year newer car. that is about what the difference should be so you will get some of that back when you sell.

now, if the 05 needs reconditioning that the 04 dioesn't then the deal isn't so good. the 04 could have been babied while the 05 was beat on. a thorough inspection wll provide insight on this.

The '05 is a premium model. It has the Intelligent Key, so that's a clue it's a premium. No Nav though from what it looks like.

I can't tell what the '04 is though. If it's a base model, i'd get the '05 over it.
