Any way of modifying a stock intake "power" box?

(copy pasted word for word from g35nyc)

reading through some peoples setup on driver and came across one, dont remeber the user name, some guy who runs a 14.7 inna 03 sedan, saying he had a modified intake box.

no **** you buy a new K&N filter or change the whole thing all together but is their anything you can do to "open it up" a litle more or somthing, or is this guy talking out of his *** and thinking a K&N drop in is a "modded" intake power box.

thanks guys

they might be talking about the "power duct" which you can remove to allow more airflow into the filter, but it doesnt really do much in terms of performance. The stock intake is designed very well as it is. I think the best setup for our OEM intake is a K&N or Amsoil drop in filter, z-tube, and rev-up airbox.

DaveB and I have modified the power duct part of our stock intakes. He's got a thread about it on here somewhere. I believe he modified/removed the front lower part of the power duct to increase the opening into the airbox. I was inspired by him and removed about an inch from the top part and built up some foam padding to keep the seal when the hood is closed. I haven't had a chance to take pictures of mine but I know he's got some in his thread. I need to drive it with the stock duct and my modified duct back to back to get a more "scientific" feel for it's impact, but the modified one definitely feels and sounds a little different.

Hey DJ, don't ask for help and then slam the guys here for trying to help you out. If you want to act like a d!ck go do it somewhere else. This isn't the first time you've acted like this and it's not appreciated.

DaveB is one of the most knowledgeable people on this forum so he's not "talking out of his ***" and Buckeye was trying to share his experience that addressed the question you asked.

Please respect this board and it's members or it's likely DJ, and that's not a hello by the way.
