Oil Filter

It's time to change the oil in my 04 G35 and was wondering if there is an application guide that tells me the stock numbers for different brand oil filters that fit my car. Also, I am aware that Infiniti uses Nissan genuine parts and would like to know in which Nissan applications are our oil filters compatible with?

Thanks

Re: Oil Filter

DO NOT USE FRAM.

I think the there was some test done and it found that Fram(standard) was the worst. I think the website was something like the "oilguy" ...

You may want to check out the Purolator (PureONE is suppose to be very good) or Proline, they are i think are good.

I have also heard from many on this board that they use mobile 1 and they are very happy with it

Re: Oil Filter

I stick with Napa Gold or K&N. Based on input from various sources, I would give K&N the edge.

Frequency of oil changes is FAR more important than the brand of filter. And I'm a firm believer in synthetic, specifically Mobil's Delvac 1.

Re: Oil Filter

I use the Nissan OEM filter. 4.00 each or so, same part number as a 350z. (the last part of the part number is -63FOO The Mobil one will work better but I change my oil as soon as it isn't clear and gold (using mobil one 10w-30 that gives me about 4000 miles) anymore. therefore I am not using the extra capacity anyways.

Re: Oil Filter

I use mobile 1 every 3k miles.

Although, this has me wondering, since I have used Jiffy Lube a couple of times... I never bothered to check to see if they used Mobil filters, or they used their own. I wonder who makes the Jiffy Lube filters?

My last oil change was done by the dealer... but I didn't look to see which filter was used. I just assumed they used the Mobil filter

Re: Oil Filter

Per the Mobil 1 website:

"Mobil 1 vs. Mobil Delvac 1® for a Gasoline Engine

I have read on the Internet that Mobil Delvac 1 oils may provide better performance in high-performance passenger-car engines than regular Mobil 1, since they meet CF-4 specs. What about using Delvac in gasoline engines, especially high-performance engines?

-- "Tribological", Richmond, VA

Mobil 1 formulas will deliver everything you need for your gasoline engine. In fact, during development, tests are run in both gasoline and diesel engines to demonstrate the superior performance of Mobil 1. Mobil Delvac 1, which is designed for heavy-duty diesels, meets most diesel engine oil specifications, and also meets API SL certification. And because Delvac 1 operates in a different environment – diesel engines run longer, generate soot and run hotter, it contains different types and amounts of additives than Mobil 1. Even so, Delvac 1 still meets API SL certification for gasoline engines, and because of its high performance, we would expect it to do a good job of protecting your gasoline engine. If you use your gasoline vehicle in "heavy-duty" service, Delvac 1 will provide many benefits compared to conventional oils. When compared to Mobil 1 performance, those benefits may not be as obvious, and in fact, Mobil 1 would be expected to outperform Delvac 1 in many gasoline applications."

Sounds like unless you want extreme drain intervals, the regular M1 will be the way to go on a G.

Ted:

The local Jiffy Lube uses WIX oil filters.
