is it worthy to trade in my sedan for a coupe?
Oh, and at 55-60mph, i managed over 500miles to a tank of gas in the G on my road trip, averaging out to a cool 26mpg. I was very pleased with that. The rest of the trip i got 21-23.5mpg doing 70-90mph.
im not talking about torque steer, im just talking about the nature of fwd, the power comes from the wheels that steer which makes makes it more irritating on banking turns and what not
we were talking about the IS300, the 250 gets very good mpg for a rwd v6, about the same as the tsx i think and the 350 also does better then the 300
i got 24-25 in my first two mostly highway trips in the G although, 18 around town so far..lol. rsx used to do 22-23 around town and 29-31 on the highway(mountainous highway mixed with NYC tracffic..lol)
I get high 20's highway fuel economy with my '07 IS. I don't consider it that bad when i'm barely making 22MPG highway with my G35
Drive wheels is very important to me. It's RWD or AWD for me....and i prefer RWD-biased AWD systems. I looked at buying a TL, but i can't do a FWD car. It's not so much the actual performance as it being "just my thing" i guess.

I've managed 26MPG at 75 Before! My Trans Am got the same though, and it had a 5.7 V8 with quite a few more ponies! The G could do better.
TA is geared better for MPG then the G, you can get near 30 in LS1 powered fbodies/vettes/gtos if you are REALLY carful. you can also get 10 or 11 if you are the opposite of really careful
my bro's camed gto with LS6 heads still gets 24 mpg highway

i know the 03-04 coupe has slightly shorter gearing, but that might be the 6 speed only according to fueleconomy.gov it doesn't
It's that stupid tall 6th gear: .5 to 1 in mine. Why don't more car makers do that? All you need 6th for is cruising on the hwy, so make it an insanely low ratio! The 6th in a G or Z is the same as the 5th in most LS1 cars! Why??!!!??
or just throw a 7th in there
i think the reason is that in japan they dont do a lot of long distance highway driving. Also its more luxurious to be able to pass without downshifting..lol

It is an 8 speed, but 8th in it is still only a .69:1 and the diff is a 2.94.
So even though the TA had a 3.43 diff the .5 6th gave it a better highway gear! You think with 8 gears we could get just one that was for the hwy!!!

Easy....torque.
The VQ is a torquey motor...but it's no LS1
I used to hear it from my import driving friends why I only had a 5-spd while they had 6-spd. For some reason they felt it was "superior" to have an extra gear. In reality, their 6th gear was equal to my 5th gear. Since their engines lacked any real torque, they made up for it with closer ratios to use gearing. Of course you try and argue this point and it goes right over their head. With Ford, 6th gear in their 6-spd is equal to 5th gear in their 5-spd gearbox. 4th is 1:1 on both trans like the LS1 with 2 OD's on the T-56. The extra gear is about a 0.80 ratio just to give it a little more pull. 6th gear is 0.68....the same as the 5-spd T3650's 5th gear.

i was playing with my brothers gto the other night and i ran a caliber SRT-4 from like a 60 roll in 5th gear and he couldn't pull away from me..lol. then from a dig i only got him by 2 or 3 cars, its like the car pulls the same in every gear because i wasn't really walking away up top in 4th gear despite him not being able to pull away with me in 5th..lol. but yeah that thing has a torque avalanche when u take off in 1st gear. the vq needs a bit more help, but both cars make my RSX feel really weak down low....still gonna miss reving to 8600 though
rsx has a 4.7 final drive btw
