for all those that are thinking about getting the 350evo sways. i have a set that i tried to install on my 03 sedan and the rear doesn't clear the oem exhaust. i mentioned this in a few posts up and would love to see pics from the OP, since i have these sitting in my garage hoping to be installed. it could have been the installers at the shop, but after looking at it, it didnt look like it would clear by going under on an 03

I'm going mostly for the same "Should have been OEM" thing myself. I put z springs/struts on the front last week, I'm doing the coupe springs/z shocks in the rear tuesday. Later on I want to do d-specs, so you guys that have done this, did you use d-specs for the G35 Sedan or the 350Z?

Holy crap that's a tight fit! Are you sure that thing doesn't contact the exhaust as the suspension moves up and down? The bar will move forward, back, up, and down in it's bushings depending on position of the wheel. It sure seems to me the bar will contact the exhaust at some point in the travel range and/or when the exhaust moves around on it hangers.

^ Yes it is a tight fit and the bar comes really close to the little metal bracket piece welded onto the pipe for the rubber hanger, but so far I've heard no clunking or noise from it. Can't say that it may not touch it from time to time, but no issues yet. There are multiple accounts here on the boards of peeps using this bar. I was concerned about it also and sent them an email before buying... Got this back from them:

Yes, it will fit. In the past 3 years, I had 1 guy tell me the rear bar would not clear his special exhaust system. Nobody else ever reported any problems.

Regards,

Mike

They get too tight, don't the let the bar move freely, and makes the endlinks work overtime. The fix is to bore out the bushing a bit so that the bar can move more freely. It also appears the EVO bar doesn't have zirk fittings to add grease. You'll need to grease the bushings about every 4K miles.
It came with Prothane poly's just like every other bar, so I'd be surprised if they needed lube that often, time will tell I guess. I never read any of that in all my research, even from the 350Z guys. You are right though, it does not have the grease zirk. I wonder if different bushing brackets could be had that came with the zirk for easing lubing???

Hotchkis bars come with bushings AND a little tube of silicone grease.

that's actually very funny. i called mike the day i was trying to have it installed. im not sure why he thinks my oem system is a special exhaust system, but whatever. during our conversation he was under the impression that the coupe and sedan had the same exhaust, and that they test fit both the coupe and the 350z. i'll try again, hopefully it will fit, but if not then i'll take pictures.

Would just a rear sway bar make a big difference in handling for the x?

It's not huge difference. It's noticeable, nothing that's going to knock your socks off. You also have to be careful about setting these bars to full stiffness because it can tax the endlinks and suspension movement/travel.

If you want the biggest and most dramatic change in handling and braking, then look no further than a quality set of summer rated tires in the correct size and width (ie none of the bling super wide staggered stuff).

Oh I see, just wondering because the price looks good.

What tire brand, size and width would you recommend for stockers (17's) to optimize handling and reduce body roll?
