Going to buy a G35 this weekend - anything I should know?

Hey Guys,

I'm in the market for a G35 sedan and I'm heading to test drive one this Sunday. I was hoping people could provide some insight/thoughts on this.

We have (3) 2-door cars and a kid on the way. Selling two of them and picking up a couple 4-doors.

It's a 2003 G35 Sedan, black, bose, leather, moonroof, 6 disc, garaged.
Mileage: 100k

Guy that has it is a friend of a friend. He's a pharm rep and says they're almost all highway miles. There are 2 light scratches on the rear bumper. From the pics, it looks to be in pretty good shape for a 100k mile car.

I did read about the brake issues and asked him about it. He says that he bought the car w/ 40k on the clock and changed them once, possibly twice. I guess that makes sense if they were all highway miles. I think it still needs the brake issue addressed though.

Price: $8500

Thoughts?
Known issues?
Reliability?

Thanks guys!

I have an 04 and I dont think the brake issue is as big as people make it out to be

Just change your pads and rotors, an easy $250-300 fix

No real issues

Reliability is way up there, read up about the VQ35DE motor

100k seems a bit high but the price justifies

is $8500 asking or what you are offering

I'm pretty sure the rust warranty covers perforation, not surface.

Thanks for the info. I can change pads myself so its not a big deal. I'm really only getting the car for 2 years. Financially it makes more sense right now. I've done alot of research and they seem rock solid.

$8500 is what he said the lowest he will go is, also his asking price to me. He said he owes more on it but the car doesnt get driven now. He wants his garage space back.

Just because $8k is better than $8.5k or because its worth $8k w/ the mileage? KBB, Edmunds TMV, NADA, and Autotrader averages lead me to believe this is a good deal. I dont like any car with 100k miles but for $8500 ya know?

Sounds like a good deal here. Check to make sure all maintenance services have been kept up to date (i.e., get the VIN of the car and run it by the service dept of your nearest Infiniti dealer, and they should be able to pull up the service history of the vehicle).

I would also expect at that mileage that the spark plugs have been replaced (they should be around 90K) but check that as well.

If clean and well maintained, its worth about $7500 on a trade, so $8500 is a fair private party price to pay.

sounds good, would def. change plugs if they haven't been done. Pretty ez.
Brakes are ez as well to do.
OEM pads are crap imho. I like the Akebono proact pads.
check all window motors and seat motors. As well as all wear items.

That's about what I got my 03 w/99k mi for. One owner, full service history. Havn't had any problems so far, and I'm at 112k now.
BTW, You buy it yet?
