Coupe center pipe

hey guys i have my hks muffler coming in for my 05 G sedan this week, but just had my friend tell me he has his center pipe off his 07 coupe that i can buy off him. is this the one you guys talk about putting on the sedan, will it fit? does anyone have a picture of the center pipe they can post, i noticed it has a cat on it, is this the same cat as my car? will the sensors connect? i just want to make sure im buying the right thing.

yes it is the one. It's not a cat, it's a resonator. Here is a pic of the 06 coupe middy I had on my 03 sedan. Yes it will bolt right up to your 05 sedan. However, in the 05/06 sedans, it won't make much of a difference since the 03/04 sedans had a much heavier and different midpipe.

The center pipe you are talking about is often referred to as the 'coupe midpipe' and yes it fits. That isn't a cat on it, it is a resonator. The cats on the sedan are the same as the coupe and they are right before our y-pipe.

It goes headers-cats-y pipe-midpipe-muffler.

kool so it would be worth it to install the 07 coupe mid pipe on my 05 sedan, will it make the hks sound better? are the the same brackets? or do i have to buy new hangers

Maybe a TAD bit different. I would say it would add a little bit of drone compared to the setup you have on now (05 middy and HKS). A lot of poeple with an 05/06 sedan don't even bother with the coupe middy since it doesn't do much of a difference. Personally, I don't think it's worth it. If you had an 03/04 sedan, than that's a totally different story.

But if you do want to pick it up, itt bolts right up. No new hangers, bolts, or nothing. Simple swap out and swap in. Takes 20 minutes. Although I do suggest spraying down the bolts with wd-40 or a rust remover. It will make the swap go MUCH easier.

You'd hear more difference in getting an HR Y pipe.

I have to respectfully disagree. Here's my review of different configurations with HR y pipe, Hks, Z tube, coupe mid, and 05 sedan mid.

i wont be getting the HR y pipe, its going to be just the mid pipe and the hks muffler, and hopefully the z tube. do you think the mid pipe without the y pipe will still make a difference?

The Coupe Midpipe on an 05/06 makes a deeper exhaust note.

Play them at the same time you can hear the difference. your choice

^It wont be honda raspy.

I have HR Y-pipe, Coupe Midpipe, and HKS axleback and i think it sounds great for mostly oem stuff.

Tunnels are fun!
