dear my fellow g35driver members...

i have a black 06 g35x and i love it. my only problem is... it doesn't have a sunroof. i was wondering if anyone on the site had ever cut a sunroof in their G, or any other vehicles. I am thinking of doing this over the summer some time, or over winter break from college. if anyone has any pointers/tips/advice of feedback i'd greatly appreciate it!

DONT DO IT... a car without a sunroof will rust out... especially in the north.

 

what do you mean by that? i had a sunroof in my previous car... no problems. what do you mean by a car without a sunroof will rust out?

 

sorry im a bit drunk i didnt phrsae that right... i meant that a car that has the sunroof cut in it wil rust out.

Have one professionally installed aftermarket. Doing it yourself would be very stupid IMO.

 

An '06x without a sunroof??? That's gotta be rare.



Don't cut one in yourself. Have a pro do it. Even then, aftermarket sunroofs can leak, and generally lower the resale value of a car.

 

^ +1. that's the first i've heard of it, weird. sunroofs are standard on all G's in Canada, but often the U.S. market gets a small number of "stripped" models with very few options to keep the listed base price down.

 

+1 i heard of a few g35's with cloth interior, never seen one though

 

^That is only in very early sedan models. 03.0.

 

Just eye it and uses a sawzall. You'll be aight.

 

Yeah, some of the early '03's were bare....cloth seats, no sunroof, halogen headlights. It was to keep costs down.


By '06 i thought most of that stuff was standard. I do remember reading that the sunroof for '06 was a $1500 option, but if you got the premium package it came as part of that.

Guess it's a base base model. Every one i've seen has at least a sunroof.
