So I know that sedan got 1" bigger front brakes in '05. I was thinking of upgrading the front rotors and calipers on my '04 to the ones from newer model. Has anyone done such a mod? Is it fully interchangeable or do I need newer brake lines or caliper mounts?

Upgrade all four rotors and calipers. Hit my screen name and search threads I've created. I've detailed the swap with pics

all 4 rotors, all 4 calipers, rear brake dust shield needs to be trimmed. I beleive the original lines can stay.

Bigger so they look better behind larger rims, less dust from stock pads and longer pad life, 2 piston front caliper vs. single.Originally Posted by 6spSEDANFTW!

Plus they can usually be found cheaper than brand new OEM.
Does everyone with 500hp race their car?
Don't answer that.

Filling in aftermarket wheels and less dust are two reasons alone why i'd upgrade if i didn't have them on my '06 already

the brake dust is from OE breaks
just get a new set
I honestly don't think its worth the time and money to gain 1".
Now if they were 2" or more and I drove on a track, then it would be worth it

If you check the FAQ here, you will also notice that the 05-06 get two-piston fronts instead of the 03-04 (and 05X) one piston fronts.
I do take it to the track occasionally. This Friday I was at Buttonwillow raceway and found that weakest link is my brakes. Faded really early and plain didn't want to stop after a few laps

Both sets get you world class 60-0 numbers. But one does it with seriously aggresive pads and seriously short rotor life. Other does it with bigger rotors, more clamping power and with pads that don't dust.
Cost of new oem quality rotors/pads = to my conversion that I got used. Now I have world class brakes w/o the dust and rotor destruction. If I want more performance, I can add track pads.

Yeah, and the smaller rotors, so why would anyone replace with the exact same setup? The OP has to do a little research for him/herself.Originally Posted by geew1z

He needs to get them from an 05 (non-AWD) or any '06.
The extra 1" is extra rotor mass. The more mass in a rotor, the better it is in disappating heat and making it more fade resistant and keeping rotor temps down.
The major keys to braking are 1.) Leverage..2.) Clamping force (caliper pad area and pad type and 3.) Mass of rotor.
If anything, the 05/06 brakes could benefit from a more aggressive pad, but you run the risk of dusting and noise.
