Brakes OEM Brake Pad Shims Part Number

Does anyone know what the part number is for the front oem brake pad shims? Can you even get just the shims or do you have to buy a whole kit with all that stuff in it? The reason I ask is because I replaced the pads on my wifes car with the Hawk pads a while back and they came with thier own shims. So the oem shims was discarded. Well when I replaced the pads for the second time she wanted me to use the oem pads. So I ordered them, they came in, I opened the box and much to my surprise they had no shims with them. So I was gonna use the shims that came with the Hawk pads, they dont fit. Since I had to have the car back up and going I went ahead and installed the pads without shims and now these pads absolutely howl at low speed stops, I honestly think it could wake the dead, lol. I have searched everywhere and cannot find the oem shims to fit this car now. Hopefully someone on here will know.

Great post. Here is my story. I went to a Nissan dealer to get my brakes done. I asked to keep the old brake pads. I noticed that they didn't reuse the shims. Though I've never seen pads that have come with the shims.

I have seen pads that come with shims. The Hawk pads came with shims. I use to put the cheapest ones I could find on my DSM and even those came with shims. You would think that since this seems to be an issue with these cars that Nissan would include the shims with the pad.

Wow, remind me to never discard mine!

I took the outward shim out simply because the gold plate didn't look appealing visually after painting my brakes silver. I do get a little squeal now and then, so i'm thinking of reinstalling it

I think this would be for the kit which also includes the pad retainers. I've looked into this and from what I've been told, you can't get the pad retainers or shims on their own. The kit comes as front and back and each covers both sides.

My inner shims are quite rusty due to the previous owner neglecting the brakes (everything was just dead dry, no sign of any lube at all when I first took them apart). The manual says you should discard them if they are rusty, but they are still working perfectly fine for me.

shims

41080-5y725 does contain all the retainer clips and shims , but pn# 41080-am425 will give you just the outside shims but still lists for the same exact price $58.92
