fronts approx 2.85% smaller (diam) than rear. Dont know if the G35x AWD system has a threshold regarding tire size differentials.
There is no threshold..they need to be the same diameter.

VDC is tied into the ABS and usually has a 3-6% difference before the ABS disables. Unsure of the exact % for infiniti, but most cars fall is this range. This is for ABS and traction control.

With AWD, there is no real buffer. You'd prob be okay for a short while as long as you don't use snow mode because there is still some slip since the torque split is 75/25%, but in snow mode it's locked at 50/50...but you would have snow on the ground. Long term...i wouldn't recommend it.

not a fan of the design. They should fit though.

I briefly ran 225/45's up front and 245/45's in the rear on my Coupe 18's but I had the AWD fuse pulled. I didn't like how the car performed at all and wouldn't recommend it. I went with 245/45's all around and the car ran beautifully.

Just switched over to my winter setup since we've gotten a light dusting of snow at night this week. Stock 17's with 225/55-17 Nokian WRG2's. Wheels are in serious need of a spacer!

Damage is prevented by pulling the fuse.

If you front and rear tire sizes aren't the same...don't hit the SNOW button. That's when serious damage can occur as the transfer case locks the front and rear in 1:1 ratio.

At least in normal mode, there is some slip allowed in the xfer case. There has to be because in a tight turn, the front wheels turn a larger circle than the rears, so there will always be differences in tire rotationd front to rear. The danger comes in when the case locks and everything is 1:1. That's why the manual says to not use SNOW mode on dry pavement. Anyone ever own a part-time 4WD truck and engage 4WD on dry pavement and try to turn?

Basically, it all comes down to how much risk are you willing to take for your Transfer case to have a nice set of wheels on the car?

It's easy to run the exact same OD on tires even when they're staggered. Just know how tire sizing works and you'll be fine.

Spoke with my mechanic at the Infiniti dealership. Said the Altessa system allows for a bit of "flex." Meaning that if the OD on the front is a touch bigger than the rear, the system will still function properly and not kill the transfer case, even when in snow mode. Keeping OD w/i .2" should be fine. The key is to ensure the front OD is bigger than the rear OD.
