Custome Grill and MORE!

Finally, i've had some time to take pics of my car. The most recent thing I did was change the grill. The pics are pretty big; 1-1.5mb. (Yes, that's our TL in the background in the Grill Front 01 pic).

Re: Custome Grill and MORE!

I don't know if you noticed, but there are holes where the side moldings are held in place.
To remove them, I soaked them with Goo Gone. I let it sit for 15 minutes. Then sprayed again and used waxed dental floss to remove.
When you reach a plastic "pin" that's holding it in place, you have to tug at it with your hands and they will pop out.
If you use enough Goo Gone, the glue will peel off extremely easily; just use your thumbs.

I am still looking for things to cover the holes with; the temporary solution might be electrical tape. If you have any suggestions, please let me know.

Re: Custome Grill and MORE!

What size are your tires? Your emblems were debagged but I still see the imprint of the INFINITI and the logo. By the way, very clean ride.

Re: Custome Grill and MORE!

Very very clean. I think your next mod should be blacking out your headlights! Look at mine. It looks a lot cleaner. Nice car man.......props!!! check out mine. we are very similar. Are you going to make those grills? I would be interested in one if you were going to make them for sedans. ZAINO the way to GO!

Re: Custome Grill and MORE!

the imprint you see is embossed into the trunk. i don't know if that's just on the 2003 (first production) or all G35's.

tires are 245/45/18 Michelin Pilot Sport A/S all around.

Re: Custome Grill and MORE!

I am going to be tinting the headlights, tail-lights and side markers...just waiting for blue batmobile to make those overlays for the headlights.

i got the mesh grill piece (12"x48") from customcargrills.com. private msg me, I can prolly send you the template i made. mass producing the grill would be tough, because I put it on and did a final cut. because of the curved nature, it has to be done like that.

Re: Custome Grill and MORE!

Thanks IQ9! I got the grill piece from Custom Car Grills. On the left go to Grill Mesh and then Diamond Mesh. Mine is #03 12 in. x 48 in. Diamond Grill Mesh XXL FLAT with Powdercoat Black Gloss.

It comes in a flat sheet, so I had to cut it and bend it to fit. If you are really interested, private msg me and I'll see if I can send you a copy of the template I used.

Re: Custome Grill and MORE!

I've had a few requests for a template of the grill. Since I only have one...that creates a problem. I have decided to work on the template this weekend and make it exact (the one I have now requires some trimming when attached). So, pending delivery of parts, I will make an exact template and DIY for the grill. Like I said, check out Custom Car Grills for grill styles. Mine is the Diamond Grill Mesh XXL FLAT with Powdercoat Gloss Black ($55 + Shipping).

I won't have time to actually make the grills for people, but with the template, you guys should be set. Measuring the curves and slant is what took so long. Attaching it with cable ties is simple.

Please private message me if you are interested in a template. I would have to charge for the posterboard and shipping.

Shaun

Re: Custome Grill and MORE!

Put the items back on the sides. You are exposing your internals of the door to enviroments now. Your window motors, electrical stuff, speakers, etc. Personally everything else you did was great, this part ruined the car.

Re: Custome Grill and MORE!

Thanks for the input G35_TX. I have temporarily covered all holes with black electrical tape, which is weather-proof. It isn't noticeable unless you are close to the car. I am going to take it to a custom shop near me and see what they can do to cover it up from the inside.

I think the car looks 10x better without side moldings...one of the major problems is that wax, etc. gets caught in the grooves and looks horrible. Without the side moldings, this is avoided and the car looks a lot cleaner. I just have to cover up the holes permanently now.
