Just got back from Sunset Beach NC (just North of Myrtle). Fabulous week! My G was packed with family and stuff. Drove like a dream on rails!
My advice - avoid DC at rush hour anyday of the week. I got caught in it last night. Arrrrgh.

Right now traffic on 95 headed into VA from MD can be very bad at any time as there is much construction going on. Came out of Reagon airport this past Thursday only to sit in traffic at around 10pm for about an hour. Not real sure what the current situation is though as I don't travel the road every day.

I'll be going through MD, VA, NC on a mid-Sunday afternoon
my only other option would be to leave even earlier(3AM-ish)
from the north east to get through there a couple hours earlier.
