I'm hearing a whining sound. I hear it most often when i've just started the car and it has not warmed up yet. Any thoughts?

^Tell your girlfriend to shutup?

j/k

Can you get a recording? If you can record it with your phone as a voicenote or video, I can help you post it. It's really hard to diagnose "whining sound" without actually hearing it.

every cold season theres one of these threads. im convinced my cold whining is my rear diff since it changes with speed and is present whether the clutch is engaged or not. it also wont create the sound with just reving the engine at idle.

You might be right. It sounds like its coming from the rear of the vehicle. The last time I took my car to service, my advisor said that she always recommends the rear diff service at least once a year, but at $1k a pop, I refused.

That's what this chick advisor had told me. She's cute. She almost talked me into it

I had my rear diff serviced for $50... and that was at a Nissan dealership... I only did it because my car has 145k km on it, and I doubted that it had ever been done.
