In order to get 500+ you're gonna need a turbo setup... supercharging just wont cut it. But when it comes to how much work it's gonna take and time... the car is going to be spending a LOT of time in the shop... you'll have a lot of time to choose the best parts.

IMO, at this point, until you have the keys in your hand, I wouldn't start looking that in depth.

I think I understand what you're looking for. Something that's not going to cost you much now, but has a higher luxury aspect than your average Subaru, but still can be modded, right?
Considering a G35 has the same drivetrain as a 350z, almost all the same rules apply when it comes to tuning the engine.

Also, Welcome
Yes, you have it just right!
I think that sounds like a good idea, thank you.

+1 on that comment. I have found this forum to be so full of knowledge and friendliness. It has become my favorite pass time at work haha

I post on Indycarz back home... and they're all @$$holes that think they're god's gift to the car forums

Yeah.
At one point I was asking which was more preferred, a CAI or SRI, and I misspelled CAI as CIA. At least 10 people commented on it, oh well.

Random thing about the site, you should check out the car of the month, it's so sick. He sharpied his car.
