Should I wait for 2005???

I'm thinking of buying a 2004 G35x this week and I'm not sure whether or not I should wait for the 2005 iteration...it's supposed to have 277 hp as opposed to 260 and the body is supposed to change...Any advice is appreciated...

P.S. the dealer and I negotiated a deal at 700 over invoice for a fully loaded G35x

Thanks.

There are a lot of factors in making a decision like this. I really agree with the logic in this attached thread.

Myself, I would wait but it does depend on how long you plan to keep the car. I really like the upgrades on 05.

You also have to consider the financing. Right now, you can get 1.9% ro 2.9% depending on the length of the loan from Infiniti. You probably won't be able to get those rates on a 2005 nor will you get the car for $700 over invoice.

If it's the ponies that your after, you can probably achieve that with a few mods but then again, having that added performance OEM is a plus. For me, I can take or leave the exterior/interior changes.

Decisions, decisions....

2K4 G35x/ etc...

I would offer $200 over invoice and get the '04.

that 277 ponies is probably more marketing than engineering. what you need to decide is whether your like the new look for '05 more than '04 look. As you well know, you'll get a much better deal on an '04. this would save you enough money to buy somthing else like a set of rims

If you're looking for AWD version, I don't think 05AWD will be available in 2004. I spoke with sales manager today and he said that realistically they'd have 05s on the lot by mid November. I will ask about AWDs when i pick up my car tonight.

Based on year model depreciation, '04 cars will depreciate considerably when '05 models are released 1 Oct ... usually more than offered discounts. That said, I'd get the '05 model and offer $1500 over invoice (meeting them halfway for their usual $3000 markup on base model). I did the same last Nov and had the added peace of mind knowing it hadn't been hotrodded since it just came off the truck.

Re: Should I wait for 2005???

Thanks for all of your postings!
I am now the proud owner of a G35x with Navi...

A couple of questions...
1. The dealer said that I "have" to purchase the splash guards and the trunk mat...even though I told him that Edmunds has it as part of the premium package.
2. The invoice did not have flooring or any other types of fees, but the invoice was a couple of higher than the invoice I got of the web after piecing the prices together. Are those fees a part of the invoice?

Got it for $679 over invoice...let me know if this was a good deal or not...I basically gave him 2.5% over invoice which I feel is a good profit.
