I can't afford to repair my car, I need to get rid of it

I got an accident which was my fault.
The problem is my auto insurance only covers liability which means I am responsible for the car.

It is 2003 g35 sedan and has 70k miles on it
its value is probably around $8000
But the repair will cost thousands dollars.

So I decide to get rid of it.
I heard that there is somewhere that buys damaged cars.
But I don't have any information of them.
Who are they? Anyone knows about these?

You should part it out on here, then donate it and write it off. Any pictures by the way?

If you have a title for the car, post it on ebay for sale. You may end up getting some good money out of it.

You could probably make quite a bit of money if you part it out. Depends on if you still owe on it or not I guess...

I have a title for the car.
It's only front damage,
Everything is fine except front body(hood, bumper, fenders)
and some part in engine room, and both airbags.
It is not a junk, just I can't afford to fix it.

If i post it on ebay, how much I put?

You can set a reserve, so you dont loose it at a lower price than what you want for it. Post some pictures of the car here of the interior and exterior, to help you get a better idea.

post on CL for what you think is about FAIR.

most people buy cars to fix them cheap and resell. so how much did the shop tell you the damages were. I would take that number say $5k cut that in half and deduct from current value of car. so roughly $5-6k this would be a complete GUESS at what it would cost for someone who flips cars to break even.

So profits for them would be if they paid $4k for the car. This is all BS numbers i'm coming up with since these car flippers some are pretty shady.

Craigslist and ebay for $4000 area my thoughts. But consider parting out the car.

I was selling the car thru craigslist before the accident occured. I was asking $11000. So if I think the value is $10k, do you think 4-5k is fair?

$4-5K sounds like a good starting point. Fish it on CL for a while and see what you get. Just be warned some of these flippers are extremely shady. Send them pics and talk on the phone with them before letting them come by and make sure they understand the asking price. They'll come down with $800 and a tow truck and literally demean you into selling them the car right there and then.

Hell, i hate it when i sell a running car on CL and some used car salesman calls up "helping his buddy find a car" At the end of those phone calls they make you feel embarrassed to be asking any more than $500 for any sort of car...even if it's a perfectly good $10K car. I used to hang up once I found out they were salesmen.

Actually, don't use craigslist. Toss it on Ebay with a $4K reserve. Just be aware of the Ebay fees and such before hand.
