Bought a New 2004 G35x Last Week
I am new to this forum but wanted to post my experience purchasing a brand new 2004 G35 AWD in case it is of help to anyone else.
I am located in Northern Virginia. The MSRP was $38320 and included the navi, premium package, wood trim, splash guards and trunk mat with full spare. Dealer invoice is $35040.
I paid $34,999 plus tt&l. This was the full price including the dealer processing fee of $299 that this dealer charges - so the pricing without the fee was $34700. Also included in the price were free oil changes for the first two years or 30K miles - whichever comes first.
I financed it with Infiniti's 2.9% financing over 60 months. I had the option of leasing it over 39 months using the money factor, residual and bank fee that Infiniti is supporting but it just made more sense for me to go the outright purchase route given that the effective rate on the lease would have been 4.1% and then one would pay the bank fee of $550. VA charges the full sales tax on the capitalized cost irrespective of lease or purchase.
I feel that I got a good deal especially given that the dealers in Northern VA are not known for heavy discounting.
I would post the dealer's name but I am not sure if that is against the forum's rules.
It is an awesome car - am very happy with the choice that I made. The alternative that I was looking at was the BMW 325ix.

inTgr8r & richpike, thanks for your messages.
Mine is Twilight Blue with the Graphite Leather interior. It really is an awesome car and I thoroughly enjoy driving it. Just have to make sure that I don't end up with a bunch of speeding tickets!
Glad to hear that you got a good deal on yours, richpike. How is yours equipped?
Unless I missed it - given that I am new to the forum - I am a little suprised that there is not a thread/section that is dedicated to the type of deals that people are getting on cars that they are buying. I would think that it would be useful information for potential buyers.

Ranajo:
Welcome to our world !
There have been many threads on this site regarding the deals we've gotten, discounts, rebates, Internet purchases (how I bought mine - saved a TON), just not one that is ongoing.
Check out all the forums here, you'll learn very important stuff about how to care for your car, what to watch for, etc., etc. Recommend you consider a Clearbra for the front of your car very soon - by the time most people realize they need one, it's too late, and they have major chips and scratches to the front bumper and hood.
Our cars are especially susceptible to front end paint damage, mainly because of the EPA mandated VOC compliant paint the manufacturer's are using, which is water-based and weak.
Enjoy the ride.

dbarnes, thanks for the welcome and the suggestion regarding Clearbra.
I will certainly check out the forum for suggestions from the more experienced users of this car.

Xman & PB35, thanks for the welcome.
For anyone looking to purchase the G35, I understand that Infiniti is now providing a $1000 dealer cash incentive for the RWD and $500 for the AWD - both incentives apply only to the sedans.
Keep that in mind when negotiating the price.
