FNG here!

I guess the more appropriate term is Newbie, I'm new to this board & new to the G35 sedan.

It is an amazing vehicle and I am trying to learn all that I can. I've read tons of the stickies, but have a question I can't seem to find.

What is the "revup" motor?.. is this a coupe thing? I know a decent amount about engines and mechanics, but was under the impression the G35x (sedan) all had the same engine. Any help/direction to info would be great... Thanks, -Dan

p.s. 06 G35x

Thank you! Found it 5 mins after your post.

Are there any real gains to be seen with "z-tubes"? Not looking to go crazy, but want the to machine to be a little louder and faster... Thinking of a Megan cat back as well.

Anyone with this setup seen noticable gains in performance? Thanks

I just recently installed my z-tube about a week ago. The sound it makes is great. The stock tube is so restricted, Im not sure if there are any gains made from this but it seems my mpg has improved a bit, I would definitly recommend it.

(edit) *I believe* You should get a drop in filter, 5/16 spacer, MREV2, coupe mid-pipe and HR y-pipe.

I think it'll give you the appropriate pep & sound.

Full intake is your call, some like the exhaust note better than they like the intake noise under load.

Z-Tube and 5/16ths spacer are a great combo, best bang for your buck for both performance and intake note. Really should be the first thing anyone does to this car. Z-Tube can be found in many places, but PM tony@riversideinfiniti or rick@riversideinfiniti (forum members) for a good price on a spacer.

I'd probably disagree with those who say there aren't any gains with the Z-tube, but what gains there are probably can't be measured outside of an extremely controlled labratory environment. The stock intake has a built in baffle meant to decrease the intake noise. It does this by disrupting the airflow, which decreases the speed the air is moving, which means less air reaches the plenum per unit of time. Granted, this decrease is extremely small, but at least theoretically, it is less than what a Z-tube can deliver, so performance would be increased with a Z-tube. However, it's probably no more than 1-2 HP, and thus pretty much unmeasureable.
