help newbie please

2003 Silver G35 sedan automatic graphite leather (no options)
MSRP 29650
Invoice ?26857

After looking at the 2004 Maxima, I decided to compare it to the 2003 G35 Sedan (very similar MSRP if you include the leather seats to the 04 Maxima base model.) Dealer offered $2500 below MSRP within 30min of talking -> $27,150. Is this a good deal? or should I look around some more.

Also Nissan quotes 0.9% APR. would I be able to get something close with the G35?

thanks for your input!

Your invoice price of $26,857 is accurate but don't forget that neither of the figures you listed includes freight ($545). Regardless, I think it's a good deal at $27,150.

Bigger question is how did you find one without a single option or accessory? But maybe that's why he's trying to unload it; nobody wants it stripped.

Be careful on that financing number....Nissan Canada is also offering 0.9% but ONLY on the 2003 Maxima's, which they are trying to unload before the 2004's come in. Make sure you check with the actual onsite financer/accountant and get it in writing before you sign.

If you don't need the toys, it's a hell of a deal; I'd say grab it. I have a stripped DP G (w/trunk mat) and I'm very happy with it. Had a 2002 TL which came with all the toys and I don't miss them at all (except for the Homelink).

RWD made a big difference to me, for this reason alone I'd choose the G over the Max.

However if you like the more supple ride (I'm assuming) of the Max along with the larger cabin, that's a good reason to choose the Max.

Both nice cars. I like the handling on the G better, though. $2500 below is a good deal.

Re: help newbie please

A pal of mine has a 2001 Max SE. It rides much rougher than my non-sport package G35. My buddy says my G still handles better than his SE MAX and I agree. The Max has a solid rear axle and wheel hops like crazy when going over bad expansion joints etc. in the roads at speed . And lets not forget the Torque steer on the 2003 from putting 255 horsepower thru the FRONT wheels. It is still a very nice car though. I almost bought a 2003 Max myself due to the killer deals they are offering now. As far as price you can always offer them less, wait a week or two and see what happens. If this is a possibility, take in a cashiers check for 500 to 1000 dollars less than they are asking, wave it under their noses and see what happens. You can always kick in a little more cash if it is absolutely necessary. I took in a check for the Most I was willing to pay (pretty low) and handed it to the salesman(unsigned of course) and after an hour or so I told them to give me the check I was leaving. The discussion ended and they prepped my car and I drove it home. My only regret is that I didn't take in a check for 500 or so dollars less. Who knows what would have happened? Good luck on your car newbie. Best wishes, GeeSpot
